OverviewThe Production Shift Manager is primarily responsible for all production activities across all areas on one shift and should possess the knowledge and ability to oversee all aspects of plant operations. You'll provide direction and support to supervisors and leaders on the production floor to ensure operational excellence.
You'll be responsible for achieving company objectives related to service, quality, cost, safety, and people. This includes the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs related to SQF, HACCP, product traceability, supplier certification, and quality and safety standards for ingredients, work-in-process (WIP), and finished products. You will also oversee programs that measure process control, adherence to specifications, and environmental control standards.

Responsibilities- Lead and supervise production activities, including mixing, depositing, baking, freezer loading and unloading, slicing, finishing, ingredient preparation, whipped cream production, hand-shop finishing, high-speed and secondary-line finishing, packaging, and labeling.
- Ensure compliance with all formulations, specifications, methods, procedures, and practices so that product quality meets all standards for wholesomeness, appearance, dimensions, weight, flavor, and texture.
- Manage standard staffing levels for each position within the area of responsibility.
- Utilize performance feedback based on standard line speeds and productivity metrics to optimize workforce productivity and labor efficiency.
- Manage material usage to minimize waste and maximize yield while maintaining strict adherence to formulations and specifications.
- Partner with Receiving and Purchasing to ensure proper inventory rotation and optimal inventory levels for all materials and supplies.
- Lead and supervise minute-to-minute and hour-to-hour operational and personnel activities to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all housekeeping and sanitation standards.
- Maintain a score of 900 or higher on AIB sanitation inspections.
- Lead and supervise operations to ensure compliance with all applicable safety laws, regulations, and company safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Accurately record and track employee attendance and administer company attendance policies in a timely manner.
- Manage employee performance by recognizing and rewarding positive contributions and administering the Company's progressive discipline process when appropriate.
- Train and develop employees to support key performance objectives while fostering a satisfying and rewarding work environment.
- Direct all personnel activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications- A minimum of 10 years of experience in food manufacturing management, preferably in the bakery/dessert industry with demonstrated success at the supervisor level.
- Strong quantitative and interpersonal skills with the ability to think critically.
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently as well as with groups.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize work.
Preferences:- B.A or B.S. Degree in Business Administration or equivalent relevant industry experience.
