Overview

The Opportunity

The Production Master Scheduler serves as the strategic owner of the manufacturing production schedule for the San Antonio facility. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining an integrated, capacity-constrained production plan that optimizes workflow, maximizes throughput, and supports on-time customer delivery.

 

Acting as the central coordination point between Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Production, and Leadership, the Production Master Scheduler proactively manages production priorities, balances workloads, identifies manufacturing constraints, and drives schedule execution. Through data analysis, Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement, this role ensures production resources are aligned with customer demand while minimizing lead times, work-in-process inventory, and operational disruptions.

Responsibilities

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Own and maintain the plant-wide master production schedule.
  • Develop and manage a capacity-constrained production plan aligned with customer demand, labor availability, equipment capacity, and material readiness.
  • Sequence production to optimize flow while meeting customer commitments and business priorities.
  • Continuously evaluate schedule performance and adjust plans to respond to changing customer demand, production issues, and resource constraints.
  • Maintain accurate production priorities within ERP/MRP systems.

Capacity & Bottleneck Management

  • Identify production bottlenecks and capacity constraints using operational data and performance metrics.
  • Balance workloads across manufacturing departments to maximize throughput and minimize idle time.
  • Collaborate with production leaders to resolve capacity limitations and improve production flow.
  • Recommend schedule adjustments that improve overall plant efficiency.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Customer Success, Engineering, and Operations.
  • Facilitate daily and weekly production planning meetings.
  • Communicate schedule changes, production risks, and recovery plans to key stakeholders.
  • Ensure production priorities remain aligned with customer expectations and organizational objectives.

Operational Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor schedule adherence and production performance metrics.
  • Analyze trends impacting throughput, lead times, and delivery performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Theory of Constraints, and data-driven decision making.
  • Support process improvements that reduce waste, improve flow, and increase operational efficiency.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop production planning reports, dashboards, and forecasting tools.
  • Monitor key production metrics and communicate performance to leadership.
  • Maintain accurate planning data within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Support long-range production planning and capacity forecasting.

Work Environment

This position is based primarily in a manufacturing environment with regular interaction on the production floor. The role requires frequent collaboration with production leadership, operations, and cross-functional teams. Employees may be exposed to manufacturing equipment, moderate noise levels, varying temperatures, and other industrial conditions. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when entering designated production areas. The position involves extended periods of sitting, computer use, and virtual communication. Physical requirements may include lifting up to 20 pounds and general movement within an office setting.
