Production Accountant - Esports events - Los Angeles, California

A brief summary

We are seeking a detail focused Production Accountant to support our Client on their broadcast of studio based, multi-tier live esports championships.

You will partner closely with the Client's internal stakeholders and production teams across North America, LATAM and Brazil. The role centers around control and compliance which ultimately, empowers the team to make data-informed decisions.

Responsibilities include, processing and managing the financial data related to studio events (e.g., Esports) and other production related financial projects. Tracking PO spending, reviewing invoices against contract values and terms, reviewing expenditure and ensuring good financial governance set against robust financial data integrity and policy compliance.

Reporting to the Global Events Service Delivery Manager, you will work closely with the Client's Senior Manager and Senior Accountant in Production Finance and you will support the Studio Production Management team.

Role is LA based with a remote flex. Some travel may be required to support which can be national or international for up to three weeks at a time. You must hold and maintain a valid passport or travel document.

What you'll be responsible for

  • Provide production-accounting support and general operations budgets within established workflows and under the direction of the Senior Production Accountant. Support includes:
  1. Partner with Line Producers, Production Managers, and vendors to ensure accurate maintenance of forecasting, tracking, and reporting of production expenses.
  2. Track and categorize invoices and production costs using the Client's production chart of accounts, providing accurate actuals and forecast updates.
  3. Create and distribute cost reports on a timely and regular basis.

  • Identify and flag potential areas for budgetary risk or opportunity.
  • Calculate/update cash flow pacing.
  • Work with Riot's purchasing team to set up vendors in our purchasing systems, request contracts, and issue invoices.
  • Work with the Accounts Payable team to ensure Purchase Orders are paid in a timely manner.
  • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to create and enforce workflows in a fast-paced, creative environment.
  • Communicate financial compliance requirements and strict deadlines clearly to non-finance stakeholders-including Producers and Creative Leads.
  • A high degree of accuracy in data entry and the ability to spot discrepancies in large, complex datasets.
  • Strong ability to prioritize, be proactive, and be detail oriented.
  • Experience with Airtable
  • Proficient in the Google ecosystem (e.g., drive, docs, sheets).
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with a high degree of discretion.
  • A valid passport is required for this role.


Desired Background

  • Finance/Accounting with a heavy emphasis on budgeting, cost tracking, and audit/control functions. Studio/Live event experience (e.g., film/TV/event/concerts), and/or esports experience a plus.
  • Experience with media budgeting software (e.g., move magic, media web, and showbiz) and Coupa
  • Familiarity with IronClad, Slack, and Notion.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in emerging technologies (AI and automation) is a plus.
  • Experience in processing payroll and labor laws.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business-related field.
  • Had previous experience onboarding and guiding junior team members.
