Datalogic is offering a Product Quality Reliability Engineer role, reporting to the Quality Reliability Manager. He / she will collaborate with the Global Quality area.

The Quality Reliability Engineer is responsible for supporting engineers and development activities by defining test plans, issuing reliability documentation (also in according to company ISO9001 certification) and performing test and checkout of products and systems, experimental circuitry, prototype models and specialized test equipment. He/She follows up reliability topics related to new product development, component validation and failures from the field.

Key Responsibilities:

In Datalogic the new products development is managed through a gating process called NPD (New Product Development). In relation to this Job Description, crucial gates in this process are the stages called Alpha (prototype testing), Beta (Design Validation Testing) and Pilot (Manufacturing Validation Testing). The work environment is general office environment and lab or manufacturing with some exposure to hazards associated with manufacturing equipment and tools. Some level of stress may occur. During NPD, periodical meetings are held to exchange information among teams involved into the projects. The Quality Reliability Engineer works from diagrams, verbal instructions, layouts, product standards or test plans to perform testing, troubleshooting, and other research and development tasks. Establishes experimental setups to test prototypes.

Carry out reporting and documental works such as ECO reviews, Product Standards reviews, NPD documents, product inspections, problem solving.

Duties in summary are:
• Issue Reliability/EMC test plans to support new products development;
• Support development department to guarantee the compliance with applicable standards and to define test plans also at Alpha stage;
• Attend regular Core Team Meetings and Technical Meetings (when necessary) to support new products development;
• Prepare documentation needed for NPD stages; Issue test plans also for component validations;
• Cooperate into Field Failures investigation (this includes Data Repair analysis and Failure Distribution analysis, failed units analysis, feedback to R&D etc...)
• Carry out ECO (Engineering Change Order) review • Attend Problem Communication Meetings or Quality Briefings as Reliability representative
• Develop Specialty Test & Execution especially for NPD projects by early identifying new equipment or new tools or new processes to be implemented ;
• Support lab maintenance and support the generation of the budget for lab maintenance and development
• Continuously improve test plan and lab equipment based on test experience, field failures, new product features.

Requirements:

Education: Engineering university degree or high school degree in technical field;

Languages: Italian, English fluent;

Experience: Experience in Product Quality or R&D as technical for technologic products. Minimum of 5 years experience in related field. Some knowledge of Regulatory/Certification processes will be a plus.

Specific Skills:
  • Knowledge of applicable standards and test methodology;
  • Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation for carrying out tests.
  • Electronics or Mechanics knowledge (Engineering university degree is preferred);
  • Capability to work in a team in order to openly share the information and to sustain strong positions;
  • Capability to work under pressure;
  • General office environment and manufacturing environment. Exposure to hazards associated with manufacturing equipment and tools. Some level of stress may occur.
