Full Job Description
About the Team
The Platform Consumption Console (PCC) team manages a critical piece of Workday's enterprise infrastructure as the company shifts toward a consumption-based pricing model. The PCC is evolving from a localized billing tool into a true platform, supporting the influx of internal products and ensuring a complete and accurate consumption experience for our end-customers. Join us as we transition to a platform operating model and define the future of consumption-based billing at Workday.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Product Manager to focus on designing critical infrastructure for our core credit consumption calculation engine. This backend system is responsible for processing and distributing consumption data, supporting a variety of internal and external use cases, including consumption billing.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate high velocity, innate curiosity about consumption billing, and a strong ability to translate complex technical and business challenges into effective product solutions. This role is key to providing value to a diverse group of stakeholders, including Customers, Partners, and our Internal Workmates.

Responsibilities:
  • Champion Customer Success: Deeply understand customer needs through regular interaction, especially concerning the metering and billing lifecycle, to ensure high satisfaction and trust in Workday's products.
  • Own the Financial Engine: Serve as the product owner for the core credit calculation rules engine. Ensure 100% mathematical accuracy, handle complex billing edge cases, and guarantee the integrity of the consumption ledger.
  • Drive Product Strategy: Collaborate across Finance, Sales, and Product teams to define a product strategy that effectively balances immediate customer requirements, long-term market opportunities, and relevant industry trends.
  • Define Key Product Problems: Identify and articulate the most critical problems the PCC should address by analyzing the market, Workday's unique advantages, and available technical opportunities.
  • Prioritize High-Impact Features: Evaluate potential features based on user value and business impact, and champion solutions that can be developed and shipped efficiently.
  • Ensure Efficient Feature Delivery: Partner closely with Engineering and Design teams to streamline the product development pipeline, ensuring new features are delivered to market quickly and safely.
  • Establish Data Contracts: Partner closely with engineering leads to define strict API contracts and data ingestion schemas for new products onboarding to the platform.
  • Act as Product Advocate: Serve as the external champion for the product and the internal voice representing the customer's perspective.
  • Clearly Communicate Capabilities: Articulate new product capabilities and value propositions to diverse internal and external audiences in an understandable and tailored manner.

About You

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years of product management experience
  • 3+ years of experience with SaaS/B2B
  • Technically proficient (even if not a coder) with AI and LLM-powered technology

Other Qualifications:
  • Passion and empathy for customers and a proven track record as a customer advocate
  • Mastery in leading Cross-Team Collaboration, effectively working and influencing cross-functionally to define and deliver complex product strategies and initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Agility: Ability to seamlessly pivot between highly technical conversations with engineers and strategic/commercial conversations with Finance, Sales, and enterprise customers.
  • Proven ability to be a visionary Customer Advocate, deeply understanding and anticipating customer needs in product strategy and decisions, and driving a customer-obsessed culture throughout the organization
  • Deep mastery of Customer Empathy, proactively identifying fundamental customer pain points and translating them into transformative product strategies and innovative user experiences
  • Exceptional Strategic Thinking skills, shaping the long-term vision and direction of a product portfolio or business unit
  • Ability to operate successfully across multiple functions, influence senior executives and peers alike, and mediate across various partners
  • Good communication and presentation abilities, both written and verbal

You'll be a great fit (and make sure to highlight these experiences to us) if:
  • You are passionately following the latest in AI products and emerging technologies and trying them out, exploring possibilities, and have experimented with many of the technologies on your own
  • You have a bias for action and progress
  • You are organized and capable of tracking dozens of moving pieces and managing the many stakeholders that you work with at a company like Workday
  • You excel at learning and understanding customer pain points quickly based on public information, internal information, and customer conversations, and can get up to speed on complex customer pain points in a fraction of the time a typical PM would

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we're combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
