Full Job Description
Summary:

Norsat International Inc. is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and production of innovative communications and satellite technology products. This position plays a key role in developing electronic hardware solutions from concept through manufacturing while ensuring quality, reliability, and performance.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams to support both new product development and existing product improvements.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and develop electronic circuits, schematics, and printed circuit board (PCB) layouts for new and existing products.
  • Support hardware development activities through product design, prototyping, testing, validation, and production release.
  • Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of electronic assemblies and systems.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation including specifications, drawings, test procedures, reports, and design records.
  • Select, evaluate, and qualify electronic components based on performance, availability, and cost requirements.
  • Conduct laboratory testing using oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and other electronic test equipment.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve production issues and support continuous product improvement initiatives.
  • Work with suppliers and vendors regarding technical specifications, component quality, and engineering requirements.
  • Support product transition from design into manufacturing.
  • Contribute to initiatives focused on reliability, manufacturability, performance improvements, and cost optimization.


What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 4-7 years of experience in electronics design, hardware development, or product engineering.
  • Experience creating schematics and PCB layouts using Altium Designer or equivalent design software.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design principles.
  • Experience with hardware testing, validation, debugging, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with standard laboratory test equipment including oscilloscopes and electronic analyzers.
  • Familiarity with product development and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of RF, wireless communications, or telecommunications products is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
