Job Description:

To support Mars Inc's Digital Transformation vision, MARS has embarked on a Master Data Transformation Journey building the capabilities across People, Process, Technology & Data that will improve effectiveness & efficiency of data management.

To sustain the Digital Transformation Journey MARS has established Data Organization that will implement data management best practices on an ongoing basis. The data organization will continue to evolve master data strategy, data models & standards and implement & scale those across segments & markets. Data Organization is comprised of Enterprise Data Councils for each master data domain of Product, Customer, Finance and Vendor led by respective Domain Data Officer. The role of Product Data Champion supports the Product Data Officer with data standardization and knowledge management.

What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. A Master's degree (e.g., MBA, MS in Business Analytics or Information Systems) or professional certifications in Data Governance (such as CDMP) or Project Management (PMP) are highly preferred and considered a strong asset.
  • Has considerable experience (5 years min) in Data Governance, Master Data Management (MDM) and industry leading MDM solutions.
  • Experienced in Data Quality assessment & improvement activities as well design
  • Experienced and capable to envision, model and optimise complex, yet efficient business processes, data and work-flows
  • Demonstrated Leadership skills, with proven management experience within a matrix organization to influence & drive adoption and harmonization of standards in case of regional differences
  • Managing Vision and Purpose is critical in ensuring an appropriate and effective communication to key stakeholders
  • Ability to travel flexibly globally (approximately 1 week every 2-3 periods)
  • Strong Business Acumen of the FMCG industry and preferably
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, any additional language is an advantage. Multi-cultural awareness incl. adaptability/ flexibility


What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Guide Business Function SMEs in the preparation of Material Master Data Standards and Metadata. Drive alignment in the organization and formalize through the approvals in Data Governance Meetings. Adapt existing standards to the changes driven by on-going transformation programs. Those standards and metadata can include Data Model, Data Definitions, Business Rules, Business Processes and KPIs.
  • Play a key role in upgrading and facilitating data governance operating model, identifying Business Function SMEs in the context of data ownership as well as managing stakeholders.
  • Identify & document the link between data attributes (core product, executional) and related business functions to allow the implementation of system supported workflow solutions in market and supply units
  • Collaborate with regional Data Owner Business Functions, Data Stewards and Data Quality organization to ensure data standards are effectively implemented.
  • Own and deliver approved small / medium size projects to deploy or improve workflow in business units
  • Support the Data Governance Lead in identifying training needs on data standards for data owners who become part of the data provision process in a unit
  • Understand the impact of changes in structure and data to downstream consumers of the master data. Drive any analysis on the impact across the various aspects like structure, process, quality etc.
  • Demonstrate ownership to build learning and knowledge artifacts that will help in the adoption of the data standards.
  • Help resolve Cross-Functional issues that can potentially occur for a data domain or across data domains.
  • Be responsible for defining & tracking the efficiency of the governance process.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.

The pay range shown is applicable to all US locations listed within the job posting:USD 134,400.00 - USD 184,800.00
