About the Role:We are looking for an experienced AI Engineer to join our Product team. This role emphasizes backend Python development, good system design, and the deployment of scalable systems - with a strong focus on the voice and multi-channel communication technology at the core of what Mia does. You will work closely with our AI lead to push the boundaries of what's possible, while contributing to the product roadmap as priorities evolve.
What You Will Do:- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Python.
- Build and contribute to frontend features using TypeScript and React.
- Improve voice pipeline performance, expanding multi-channel communication capabilities, and evaluating emerging technologies.
- Implement and optimize real-time speech-to-text (STT) and text-to-speech (TTS) systems.
- Contribute to multi-channel messaging systems (SMS, email, voice) built on a shared agentic backbone.
- Own complex refactoring and architecture projects -replacing brittle, legacy patterns with clean, testable, scalable solutions.
- Apply best practices in software development, including testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code reviews.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering technical growth and collaboration.
What We Want You to Have:- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Python fundamentals.
- Experience with frontend development using TypeScript and React.
- A product mindset - you think about the "why" behind what you build and can contribute meaningfully to roadmap conversations.
- Proven ability to lead large-scale refactoring or architecture migration projects - shipping incrementally without breaking production.
- Experience deploying applications in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) using Docker.
- Strong communication and ownership; comfortable working directly with senior cross-functional stakeholders.
- Use AI to code - Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or equivalent. This is how we work.
