Description

The Department of Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine is recruiting an exceptional team-oriented procurement surgeon for abdominal organs. Our dynamic Division of Liver Transplant Surgery is interested in individuals who can meet the rigorous quality and demands of a very busy and world-renowned liver and abdominal transplantation program. Clinical responsibilities include surgical procurement from deceased donor patients for the liver (including DBD, DCD, NMP), pediatric, and intestinal in-situ split liver procurement, as well as pancreas and small bowel organs for transplantation. The candidate needs to be adept at all types of back table preparation and reconstruction of liver for transplant, pancreas and small bowel. The ideal candidate should have experience in the areas of procurement, transplantation, and determination of organ quality. The individual may also be involved in procurement for research and resuscitation of marginal organs. In accordance with our educational mission, the candidate will also need to train residents and fellows on organ procurement and back table preparation techniques. The position is designed for surgeons with strong operative experience who are interested in a collaborative role focused on organ procurement, and resident education-within one of the nation's leading academic health systems.

  • Perform independent procurement of liver (including DBD, DCD, ECD, NMP), pediatric and in-situ split liver), as well as pancreas and intestinal organs for transplantation
  • Assist with back table preparation and reconstruction of organs for transplantation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary transplant and surgical teams to support high-quality patient outcomes
  • Contribute to resident education and surgical teaching within an academic environment
