Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director and Analytics Manager of the Clinical Research Information Systems (CRIS) team, the Data Systems Analyst plays a key role in supporting clinical research through data integration, analytics, and business intelligence solutions. The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert in modeling, aggregating, and delivering data from multiple sources, including the Cancer Registry, Clinical Research Management System (CRMS), and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

This position supports a variety of clinical research workflows with a focus on data engineering, analytics, and business intelligence, transforming complex data into meaningful insights that support research operations and decision-making. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining reports and dashboards, fulfilling ad hoc data requests, and ensuring the timely delivery of accurate, actionable data to support UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center (JCCC) faculty and staff.
Salary: $9,075 - $20,125 monthly

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field; supplemented with a minimum of 7 years of related work/project experience
  • Strong knowledge of ETL process and design/data modeling.
  • Previous experience with BI tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in a complex, matrix team environment; experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate up, down and across levels of the organization
  • Experience organizing and managing detailed information. Strong analytical and problemresolution skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, schedule, and meet deadlines.

Preferred:
  • Previous experience with OMOP modelling.
  • Strong knowledge of Tableau dashboards
  • Previous experience working in clinical research is preferred
  • Previous experience extracting data out of OnCore
  • EPIC Clarity Certifications and/or experience extracting data from EPIC and Previous experience extracting data out of a Registry Systems (CNext)
  • Exposure to LLM-enabled or AI-driven data use cases
