Overview

The Procurement Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing category strategies, leading strategic sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and supporting contract negotiations across a broad portfolio of indirect spend categories. Categories may include Corporate Services, Technology, Human Resources, Travel, Professional Services, Facilities, Marketing, Operations, and other Goods Not for Resale (GNFR) spend areas.

This role partners closely with business stakeholders, Finance, Legal, and suppliers to deliver cost savings, mitigate risk, improve supplier performance, and support enterprise objectives. The Category Manager applies procurement best practices, including category management, strategic sourcing, RFx execution, contract management, supplier relationship management, spend analytics, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis to maximize value across assigned categories.

Position reports into the Store Support Office in Phoenix, AZ. Hybrid schedule Tuesday-Thursday.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business objectives and procurement priorities.
  • Manage assigned spend categories and identify opportunities for cost optimization, process improvement, supplier consolidation, and value creation.
  • Conduct market assessments, supplier analysis, benchmarking, and category planning activities.
  • Maintain category roadmaps and sourcing pipelines to support organizational goals.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing events, including RFI, RFP, RFQ, supplier evaluation, negotiations, and supplier selection.
  • Develop sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, service, innovation, and risk.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, pricing structures, service level agreements (SLAs), and contractual provisions.
  • Partner with Legal and stakeholders to review, negotiate, and execute supplier agreements.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand requirements, provide market intelligence, and develop sourcing solutions.
  • Drive early procurement engagement in key projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure contract compliance, SLA adherence, and risk mitigation across all benefit and travel vendors.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, HR, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in procurement or strategic sourcing and category management.
  • Experience supporting indirect spend categories such as Technology, Corporate Services, HR, Travel, Marketing, Professional Services, Facilities, or Operations preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and sourcing tools (e.g., Ariba, Coupa, SAP).
