POSITION SUMMARY *** This position is Hybrid - 3 days in office and 2 days remote **
This position is responsible for the global, strategic sourcing process for the meat category reporting to the Director of Meat Procurement. Responsibilities include market and industry analysis, supplier research and review, category and supplier segmentation, sourcing events, bid analysis, negotiations, contracting, and implementation. These activities ensure optimal terms and conditions while delivering high levels of quality and service. The position also includes ongoing category management, supplier integration, supplier relationship management, risk management, contingency planning, market forecasting, financial planning, and budget setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSDevelops category sourcing strategies including market, industry, and supply base analysis, supplier segmentation, sourcing activities, bid analysis, negotiations, contracting, and implementation.
Supports process improvements, volume concentration, price and cost optimization, and global sourcing initiatives where applicable.
Participates in sourcing and category management discussions and provides category and industry expertise.
Executes supply base design strategies aligned with company objectives.
Responsible for individual goal setting and achievement.
Supports and executes procurement and business unit strategies.
Develops and communicates category plans based on supply, industry, and business changes.
Ensures appropriate risk management, capacity planning, and contingency plans.
Participates in productivity, cash flow, and innovation projects.
Oversees supplier compliance programs, including Quality & Service, Food Safety, and Food Defense.
Sources and qualifies potential suppliers and products.
Manages supplier relationships, contracts, purchase orders, KPIs, scorecards, issue resolution, and business reviews.
Conducts supplier meetings and provides sourcing strategy recommendations.
Prepares budgets, market forecasts, and financial plans.
Creates and manages cost models for key suppliers.
Communicates market information, pricing, and strategy impacts to stakeholders.
Adheres to company and procurement policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
Three years of contracting experience.
Three years of meat industry experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
Three years of supply chain management experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESEffective interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
Independent problem-solving and self-motivation.
Project management skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSUsual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
