Role Purpose

As a process engineer, you will develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, high-quality production. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will solve technical challenges, lead continuous improvement initiatives, implement new technologies, and drive process efficiency while reducing costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to line, department, and plant performance. Process involvement will include production and development activities.
  • Problem solving is routine and expected to be performed methodically; engineer identifies root cause and implements corrective actions. Assistance to other engineers with problem solving is expected.
  • Uses rigorous processes and technical knowledge to build detailed technical understanding for key process steps. Understand why machine or process inputs impact product quality.
  • Uses statistical tools and DOE in process problem solving and process improvement.
  • Interfaces with PI Vision or machine data to assist with process monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • The engineer takes the initiative to identify gaps in work instructions and to improve procedures and process setups through documented change control. Improvements will be implemented with the expectation that standard operating procedures and setups are updated/created and followed.
  • Supports new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation, and training.
  • The engineer is expected to document process understanding. This includes daily process learning, development planning, and development reviews.
  • Interacts with the operators and production leadership daily to understand issues and to communicate plans and instructions. Sound communication is key to success in the role.
  • Functions as a team member or team leader for continuous improvement projects to reduce costs, downtime, and/or defects and to increase yields in line with business objectives.
  • Trains production personnel on new equipment, processes, and procedures.
  • Develops SME knowledge of material, process, and/or equipment in focused areas of manufacturing or engineering.
  • Ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all manufacturing processes. Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards and risks.


Work Hours

  • Standard Hours (Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm).
  • Managing a 24/7 plant structure, so support when needed.
  • Part of the on-call support rotation schedule.


Education and Experience

  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Material Science & Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience working in manufacturing.


Required Skills

  • Can take routine data retrieval and analysis and develop a standard methodology. Seeks process variability reduction and drives to root causes of special cause variation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to facilitate problem solving teams and delegate tasks to others in the pursuit of a solution.
  • Results oriented and committed to deliver.
  • Able to handle multiple complex tasks and set priorities with multiple internal customers.
  • Has a thorough understanding of and can practice Process Control and Discipline.
  • Can discern when to follow SOP, and when SOP no longer applies, and additional stakeholder input may be necessary.


Desired Skills

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas and graphing functions.
  • Demonstrated leadership or strong teamwork in accomplishing common goals.
  • Practical experience with basic statistics, a track record of identifying sources of variation.
  • DMAIC (or six sigma) green belt certification.

The range for this position is $84,932.00 - $116,782.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
