Spectra Tech, Inc. is hiring for a Process Control I&C Engineer in Oak Ridge, TN.
Position Overview

Spectra Tech is seeking a Process Control (I&C) Engineer to support mission-critical operations at the Y-12 National Security Complex. The selected candidate will provide Instrumentation & Controls engineering support, configuration management, field troubleshooting, and design services for facility control systems operating within a regulated nuclear environment.

This position will work onsite under the direction of the assigned manager and support configuration-managed systems, change control activities, engineering design updates, and field implementation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Instrumentation & Controls Engineering design support with a primary focus on equipment process control and monitoring systems
  • Support software change control and configuration management for facility control systems
  • Develop change packages and provide field technical support and system walkdowns
  • Support programmers and operations personnel during implementation activities
  • Review Change Requests (CRs) and determine impacted configuration-managed documents
  • Walk down affected systems and update engineering documentation to reflect field modifications
  • Troubleshoot existing systems and develop corrective design solutions
  • Maintain and revise:
    • Conduit and cable schedules
    • Conduit and equipment plans
    • One-line diagrams
    • Wiring, connection, and schematic diagrams
    • Instrument loop diagrams
    • Engineering calculations
    • Datasheets
    • Construction specifications
  • Support both single-discipline assignments and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and nuclear facility requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience in Instrumentation & Controls Engineering design
  • Experience supporting equipment process control and monitoring systems
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing:
    • National Electrical Code (NEC)
    • UL508A
    • Applicable ISA standards
  • Experience supporting:
    • Configuration management
    • Change control programs
    • Engineering document updates
    • Field troubleshooting and system walkdowns
  • U.S. Citizenship required
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in NRC or DOE regulated environments
  • Understanding of:
    • Conduct of Engineering
    • Conduct of Operations
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation software including:
    • RSLogix
    • FactoryTalk
  • DOE Q Clearance
Additional Technical Experience Desired

Experience utilizing ETAP Power Systems Analysis software, including:
  • Power system modeling, design, and analysis
  • Steady-state and short-circuit studies
  • Motor acceleration analysis
  • Equipment protection and coordination studies
  • Arc flash assessment and mitigation
  • IEEE 1584 arc flash studies
  • Harmonic analysis and filter sizing
Security Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Clearance
  • Must meet all site access, badging, training, and security requirements
  • Must complete required UCNI/CUI awareness training
