Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Principal Structures Engineer to join the Cold Section Engineering (CSE) team within the Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) organization in West Palm Beach, Florida. In this role, you will provide technical leadership for production support, structural analysis, producibility improvements, quality issue resolution, supplier transitions, and Class II Engineering Changes. You will support cold-section hardware across military and commercial engine programs while collaborating closely with the Integrated Product Team (IPT), Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT), Production, Quality, and customer teams.

What You Will Do:
  • Execute and oversee structural analyses for Fan, Low-Pressure Compressor (LPC), and High-Pressure Compressor (HPC) components, including military and commercial blades and vanes and Geared Turbofan (GTF)/LPC Integrated Bladed Rotors (IBRs), using hand calculations, 2D/3D finite element modeling, approved engineering tools, and engineering judgment.
  • Lead proactive redesign and producibility improvement activities for cold-section hardware, while supporting quality initiatives, supplier transitions, and Class II Engineering Changes.
  • Coach, delegate, and review work performed by less-experienced engineers to maintain technical quality and strengthen structures engineering capabilities.
  • Serve as an engineering representative on cross-functional teams, driving root-cause investigations and technical resolutions for producibility and quality issues.
  • Document analyses and present technical results and recommendations to IPTs, CIPTs, management, customers, and other stakeholders, while contributing to discipline goals, budgets, and operational planning.

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering experience with a focus on manufacturing and/or producibility.
  • Proficiency with Pratt & Whitney proprietary tools and Engineering Standard Work.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions, manage multiple hardware/engine programs, and drive technical tasks to completion.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience leading or contributing effectively in fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Department/Segment Overview:

Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO): ESTO provides dedicated support by eliminating quality notifications, escapes, works stops and enabling producibility and delivery of legacy and new parts, assemblies, modules, and engines. ESTO covers all engine programs and part families, enabling engine deliveries, first piece reviews, first article inspections, analysis automation, process certification. ESTO also supports the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) initiative in Operations. Technical disciplines in ESTO include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Product Definition, and Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
