That's why we've created Oracle Cloud Advisor, a new, free service that provides easy-to-implement ways to help you reduce waste and save money in your cloud. We've used the tool internally to reduce resource utilization by 30-40% for typical workloads. Our mission is to bring the same value to OCI customers.

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a Member of Technical Staff - Cloud Advisor, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling cloud-based distributed systems with a strong emphasis on big data, backend engineering, and microservices architectures. You will provide technical guidance, architectural best practices, and hands-on expertise to engineering teams and multiple stakeholders to improve the efficiency of large-scale cloud workloads.

Responsibilities

As a Member of Technical Staff - Cloud Advisor, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling cloud-based distributed systems with a strong emphasis on big data, backend engineering, and microservices architectures. You will provide technical guidance, architectural best practices, and hands-on expertise to engineering teams and multiple stakeholders to improve the efficiency of large-scale cloud workloads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership in optimizing backend distributed systems, big data infrastructure, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Design and implement scalable, high-performance backend systems and microservices using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native frameworks.
  • Architect and optimize data processing solutions leveraging Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Apache Airflow, Presto, Kafka, Iceberg, Delta Lake, and data warehousing technologies.
  • Optimize batch and streaming data pipelines, ensuring high availability, low latency, and cost efficiency.
  • Guide teams on data modeling, database design, SQL semantics, and data analytics to improve query performance and data retrieval.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop real-time dashboards, business intelligence solutions, and data visualization strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to ensure best practices in microservices architecture, cloud deployment strategies, and distributed systems performance tuning.
  • Develop tools and automation for monitoring, benchmarking, and cost optimization of cloud-based workloads.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives, drive architectural decisions, and mentor engineers in distributed systems, data processing, and cloud-native design patterns.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, cloud computing, and backend distributed systems.
  • Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience developing service-oriented architectures and web services security solutions
  • Knowledge of big data frameworks such as Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Apache Airflow, Presto, Kafka, and data warehouse solutions.
  • Experience working with other cloud platform teams and accommodating requirements from those teams (compute, networking, search, store).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences
  • Comfortably in a collaborative, agile development environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with data infrastructure, including storage, processing, orchestration, and data-driven application development.
  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of data modeling, database design, data warehousing, and analytics platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze cost, performance, and reliability trade-offs in cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (OCI, AWS, GCP, or Azure) and cloud-native architectures.
  • Proven experience in team leadership, managing multiple stakeholders, and driving large-scale distributed system optimizations.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
