Full Job Description
We are looking for a Principal, Social & Influencer Marketing to set the strategic bar for Credit Karma's Owned Social and Influencer programs and develop the muscle to execute against it. This is a builder's role for someone with a strong, well-formed point of view on where our social and influencer presence should go, the judgment to know what's worth doing, and the speed and craft to take an idea from concept to published, high-performing content. You'll be a trusted strategic voice for the Group Manager and cross-functional leaders, partner closely with in-house creative, and manage our agency relationships to keep the content pipeline moving and the creator program growing. You'll collaborate with Paid Media on creative development, but your strategic focus is on owned and earned.

Responsibilities

Social Strategy & Content
  • Set the strategic approach for owned social content, then translate it into a working content calendar and a steady drumbeat of native, culturally fluent posts across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Reddit, and emerging platforms
  • Bring a strong, well-reasoned point of view to social strategy, pressure-testing ideas and raising the bar for what 'good' looks like across the team and agency partners, not just executing against someone else's plan
  • Spot and act on real-time trends and cultural moments, moving from idea to published content fast, without waiting on a formal brief
  • Turn Sponsorships and offline activations into social-first content, working directly with those teams to capture and package moments as they happen

Community Management & Influencer Program
  • Build and evolve the community management framework, including response protocols, escalation paths, and crisis playbooks that guide day-to-day execution by our agency partners, and step in personally on complex or high-stakes moments
  • Own the day-to-day build-out and execution of the influencer program, including the relationship with our creator agency: manage sourcing and contracting, and personally vet and brief talent for higher-stakes or strategic partnerships, ensuring platform compliance across every campaign while staying close enough to key relationships to keep the work authentic and on-brand
  • Build and maintain the operational backbone of the program, including the creator database, rate benchmarks, contracting templates, and briefing docs, so it can scale without adding headcount
  • Track and report on influencer performance against the program's measurement framework, flagging what's working and where to double down or cut
  • Identify gaps in the current program, such as creator mix, tiering, or content formats, and bring recommendations for how to evolve it

Creative & Agency Partnership
  • Own the operational relationship with owned social and influencer agency partners: manage scopes, timelines, deliverables, and quality of output
  • Partner with in-house creative to develop platform-native content, giving clear, specific feedback that keeps work on-brand and built to perform
  • Be a hands-on creative contributor: shape a concept, storyboard a piece of content, or rework a caption when the moment calls for it
  • Collaborate with Integrated Marketing and Paid Media teams on paid social creative development as needed, without owning paid strategy or asset volume

Data & Tools
  • Own weekly and monthly reporting across owned social and influencer, translating platform and campaign data into clear takeaways that feed the broader social measurement framework
  • Use performance data to make fast, in-flight optimizations to content mix, posting cadence, and creator selection
  • Bring AI-powered tools and workflows into the team's content, community, and measurement processes to drive efficiency and free up time for higher-value strategic work

Craft & Collaboration
  • Represent Owned Social and Influencer, often as the senior social voice in the room, in campaign planning conversations with Brand, Integrated Marketing, PMM, Comms, and Sponsorships
  • Partner with Legal on influencer contracting and platform compliance
  • Serve as an informal strategic thought partner and mentor to the Sr. Manager and contingent team members, without formal management responsibility

Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in social media and/or influencer marketing, with direct, hands-on ownership of content creation, publishing, or creator management (this is a senior individual-contributor role; people management experience is not required)
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale an influencer program end to end, including creator sourcing, contracting, briefing, and measurement
  • Deep platform fluency across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and X, with a track record of producing content that performs natively on each
  • Strong creative instincts and hands-on execution skills: comfortable concepting, writing, or shaping content directly, not just directing others
  • Experience managing agency relationships, including scope, timelines, and deliverable quality
  • Ability to operate with speed and autonomy, turning a rough idea into shipped content or a launched creator campaign without heavy oversight
  • Comfortable being the senior social voice in cross-functional or leadership settings, with a track record of shaping strategy and influencing decisions without relying on formal authority
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to bring a clear point of view to strategic conversations
  • Bachelor's degree required
