Job Description

What's the opportunity?

RBC Borealis is looking for an experienced Principal Product Manager to shape the next generation of AI products for Personal Banking. Working at the frontier of applied AI, you'll take advanced models from research into real-world, production-grade solutions. You'll collaborate with leading AI researchers and engineers to solve complex, high-value problems in a highly regulated environment. This role offers the chance to drive responsible AI adoption, influence enterprise strategy, and create tangible impact through innovative, AI-driven products.

At RBC Borealis, you'll be joining a team that works directly with leading researchers in machine learning, has access to rich and massive datasets, and offers the computational resources to support ongoing development in areas such as reinforcement learning, unsupervised learning and computer vision. You can find out more about our research areas at rbcborealis.com.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Define AI Product Strategy and Roadmap: Shape the vision for AI-driven products aligned with business priorities and translate that vision into a clear, executable roadmap.
  • Bridge Research and Production: Collaborate closely with machine learning researchers and engineers to transition cutting-edge AI models into scalable, production-ready solutions that deliver real business value.
  • Drive Responsible AI and Governance: Ensure all AI products meet standards for fairness, transparency, explainability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead Cross-Functional Execution: Coordinate across research, engineering, design, risk, and business stakeholders to deliver end-to-end AI products, from ideation to deployment and iteration.
  • Measure Impact and Optimize Performance: Define success metrics (e.g., model performance, business KPIs, user adoption) and continuously improve products using experimentation, monitoring, and feedback loops.

You're our ideal candidate if you have:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (MBA or advance degree is a plus)
  • 5+ years of product management experience, with a focus on AI/ML-powered products from ideation through production and continuous iteration
  • Strong understanding of machine learning concepts (e.g., model lifecycle, evaluation metrics, data dependencies) without needing to be hands-on coding daily
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value and actionable product requirements
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments, with a focus on responsible AI, governance, and compliance
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams across research, engineering, data science, and business stakeholders
  • A data-driven mindset with a track record of defining KPIs, running experiments, and using insights to drive product decisions
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with experience managing senior stakeholders and delivering executive-level presentations

What's in it for you?
  • Become part of a team that thinks progressively and works collaboratively. We care about seeing each other reach full potential;
  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock options where applicable;
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities;
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact from a local-to-global scale.
