Principal Product Manager

As Bayer Crop Science's digital farming arm, we advance regenerative agriculture and technology breakthroughs using the latest agronomic science, data science, engineering, and real-world farming experience. With groundbreaking technologies like FieldView our team is a part of some of the most important advancements in ag.

As a Principal Product Manager, you will be responsible for bringing Bayer Digital Farming's FieldView product vision to fruition across delivery lifecycle of our digital product. Your impact will range from conducting discovery on key business outcomes to breaking down work into globally scalable capabilities that solve our users' pain points while satisfying the needs of our business.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role are:

Cross-Functional Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Build and manage trusted stakeholder relationships across global and regional business units

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across user experience, engineering, and science disciplines to deliver aligned solutions

  • Coach and mentor product managers in key product skillsets


Product Strategy & Discovery

  • Conduct evidence guided discovery in partnership with UX to define user needs and define problems are worth solving

  • Translate market, customer, competitive insights into clear roadmap priorities and outcome-oriented plans

  • Ensure product investments & decisions drive measurable business and customer impact

  • Leverage design thinking techniques to build and validate concepts


Product Execution & Delivery

  • Facilitate delivery team members through ambiguity to develop a shared understanding of the business context & user need

  • Craft durable, scalable, global product capabilities that solve problems in a way that is technically feasible, user desirable, and business viable

  • Drive effective product delivery through clear backlog prioritization and requirements decomposition (story mapping & writing)

  • Shepherd delivery through a strong knowledge of agile principles and practices - ensuring we release software that our customers will love and works for the business


WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Product Management, Business, Science or any product development related field.

  • 12+ years of product management or related roles in digital agriculture

  • Experience in agile software development with a strong knowledge of agile principles and practices

  • Proven record of successfully launching digital products globally that contribute positively to business and customer outcomes

  • Proven record driving product customer validation

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and thriving on solving complexity

  • Entrepreneurial mindset

  • Proven record of leadership through influence

  • Genuine curiosity and high ability to learn

  • Building value for both business and customers with a win-win attitude

  • Strong knowledge of integrating AI tools into product workflows and digital product capabilities


Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately $120k-180k. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive program (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
