Vistance Networks PKI Center is seeking a Principal Database Architect to join our team in San Diego, California and help shape the future of device and software security at global scale. Job Summary

Responsible for the administration, performance, availability, security, and architecture of enterprise database platforms. Supports production, development, test, and disaster recovery environments while ensuring database reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency. Partners with software engineering, QA, and business teams to design, implement, optimize, and support database solutions, data integration processes, reporting capabilities, and database lifecycle management.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain SQL Server environments across production, development, test, and disaster recovery environments.
  • Monitor database performance, availability, capacity, and security; troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
  • Manage backups, restores, patching, upgrades, migrations, replication, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize SSIS packages supporting ETL, data integration, synchronization, migration, and lifecycle management activities.
  • Review database designs and provide recommendations on data modeling, schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Develop and maintain stored procedures, scripts, and deployment packages supporting application releases and system enhancements.
  • Design and support reporting, data management, and high-availability database solutions.
  • Research and evaluate database technologies, replication methods, and platform improvements to enhance scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Partner with development, QA, infrastructure, and business teams to support application, integration, and reporting requirements.
  • Design secure, scalable, and highly available database architectures that meet current and future business needs.


Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases, T-SQL, database design, normalization, and data modeling.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, HA/DR, replication, and SQL Server maintenance.
  • Experience developing and supporting SSIS packages, ETL workflows, data migration, data integration, and data lifecycle management processes.
  • Experience with reporting platforms such as SSRS, SSAS, Power BI, or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting physical and virtual Windows Server environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and SAP SQL Anywhere (Sybase).
  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Elasticsearch, SolarWinds, Wavefront, Grafana, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with cloud database technologies, including Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or similar solutions.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing database replication, synchronization, and modernization initiatives.

Our salary ranges consider a wide variety of factors, including but not limited to benchmarking by independent third-party consultants, skill sets, years of experience, training, education, geography, and other business needs. Depending on experience, the range can be higher for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance. This position's expected total compensation (base salary) is $129,700.00-$207,400.00
