Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience as an enterprise architect or equivalent experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Experience in cloud market insights and cloud computing across applications, infrastructure, storage, platforms, or data-specifically managing datasets of the life sciences sector.
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.
  • Experience working in, or directly supporting, the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Life Sciences industry.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with structured enterprise architecture practices, hybrid cloud deployments, and on-premise-to-cloud migration deployments (e.g., migrating on-prem HPC clusters to the cloud).
  • Experience with AI/ML applied to drug discovery, computational chemistry, bioinformatics tools (e.g., GATK, Nextflow, Cromwell), and healthcare data standards (e.g., OMOP, HL7/FHIR, CDISC).
  • Experience with computing solutions, especially for building, architecting, designing, and implementing highly distributed global cloud-based systems for clinical data or genomic sequencing.
  • Knowledge of technology solutions in the Pharma/Life Sciences space.
  • Ability to drive and influence audiences and identify expansion engagements within global pharmaceutical accounts.


About the job
As a Principal Architect (PA), Healthcare and Life Sciences (HCLS), you will partner with technical Sales teams to differentiate Google Cloud to customers and serve as the customer's primary technical partner and trusted advisor, engaging in technical-led conversations to understand business issues. You will troubleshoot technical questions, roadblocks, engage in proofs-of-concepts, demos, and use your expertise to architect cross-pillar cloud solutions that solve these business issues. You will drive the technical win and define the delivery and consumption plans. You will use your strategic acumen and presentation skills to engage with technical and business leaders, and persuasively present practical and useful solutions on Google Cloud. You will have excellent technical, communication and organizational skills. You will focus on identifying, pursuing, and winning new business workloads and driving engagement within existing ones. You will have a breadth of technical expertise, spanning infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data analytics and more. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $192,000-$267,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
  • Build a trusted advisory relationship with strategic accounts and engage with Architects, VP Engineering, CTO and CIO, and identify customer priorities, technical objections and design strategies encompassing the entire Google ecosystem to deliver business value and resolve blockers.
  • Provide expertise around public cloud and enterprise technology within the pharma space by effectively promoting Google Cloud with customers, at industry conferences (e.g., Bio-IT World, HIMSS), and online.
  • Make recommendations on integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution while providing best practices to customers to optimize Google Cloud effectiveness.
  • Manage the holistic enterprise architecture relationship with customers by collaborating with specialized teams (e.g., Vertex AI, AlphaFold), product management, technical teams, and more.
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as required (can vary, on average ~50%).
