What you'll be doing...The IOF Principal Engineer with a focus on building AI applications as a high-level technical expert and strategic leader. This role is focused on driving AI and data initiatives to enhance network projects and system efficiency. The Principal Engineer will be responsible for applying technical expertise to guide project direction, ensure technical standards are met, and provide crucial support for their teams.
This role will also juggle Unified Transport Planning capacity demands with running reports, executing builds, and provisioning circuits inside the PADE Footprint.
Inside the Transport team you will work to improve the Unified Transport Network to maximize efficiencies through strategic initiatives that drive cost reductions as well as reposition internal and external customers in preparation for migration from legacy to the next generation networks. As tools are brainstormed, created, and launched from infancy stage to production work to better the tools and be able to provide a solution that will work for all transport teams inside the district.
Act as a technical expert with experience managing highly visible projects. Train staff members for new programs and initiatives, work with peers to plan successful launch of projects. Perform as a highly motivated individual who is customer-focused with organizational and leadership skills to push all projects to completion, using conflict resolution, facilitation, solution-driven analysis, superior communication and project methodology.
Key Responsibilities- Guiding the technical direction of projects and large-scale deployments, with an emphasis on integrating AI applications, including those related to the UT/iEN Network.
- Planning and manage the deployment of AI-driven solutions within the network. Bring the visions of your own and teammates, peers, and coworkers inside the district from concept creation to production to help the team.
- Building visualizations and dashboards using Tableau or other BI tools to document key AI model findings and drive future optimization.
- Utilizing experience with NTLS, TIRKS, and other applications crucial for an IOF engineer to inform AI application development.
- Looking at decom to find opportunities using AI.
- Possessing and demonstrate Unified Transport understanding of Transport networks with systems, equipment to explain the interworking of the networks with locations including: TAPs/SAPs/MSE/RHR/IHR/ER offices inside and across FSAs.
- Supporting assigned turfs inside PADE footprint with capacity planning and LATA Planning as required.
- Demonstrating experience inside Unified Transport networks and look to help teams track capacity reporting smarter ways using AI to cut down on time manually running reports.
- Communicating findings and recommendations clearly to all levels of management.
- Forecasting, tracking, and providing reporting updates on a weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc basis.
- Creating executive-level presentation materials.
- Acting as advisors to peer operational teams to assist in clearing roadblocks and resolving outstanding issues.
- Collaborating with other organizations such as: Planning groups, implementation teams, project managers, field technicians, and other Verizon services personnel.
You'll need to have:
- Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
- 5+ years of experience working as a Data Analyst/Project Manager.
- 3+ years of experience using Tableau or other BI tools.
- 2-3 years of experience using Oracle OBIEE to publish dashboards and reports.
- Experience with relational databases and querying, including Oracle database version 12C, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL or DB2.
- Proficient with data modeling, validation, and statistical analysis using data from disparate sources.
- Experience with project planning and time management.
- Experience working in a large enterprise environment.
- Proficient with Excel and PowerPoint skills.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $118,000.00 - $205,000.00.
