Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for a Power BI & Automation Developer. The Power BI & Automation Developer supports the University of North Georgia's strategic priorities by designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise analytics and automation solutions that improve strategic decision-making, operational excellence, institutional effectiveness, and student success. Working within the UNG Analytics Hub, the position creates intuitive, trusted, and genuinely enjoyable analytical experiences while advancing automation through Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power BI, Power Automate, and Copilot Studio. The position collaborates across the university to establish enterprise standards, expand analytical capabilities, and identify opportunities where automation and artificial intelligence improve organizational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Analytics Development - Designs, develops, and maintains enterprise Power BI dashboards, reports, and analytical applications that communicate trusted institutional data through intuitive, visually compelling, and user-centered experiences
  • Semantic Modeling & Analytics Architecture - Develops, maintains, and optimizes semantic models, analytical datasets, calculations, and visualization standards that support consistent enterprise reporting and scalable self-service analytics
  • Automation & AI Solutions - Designs and develops automation workflows using Microsoft Power Automate, Copilot Studio, and related Power Platform technologies to streamline business processes, improve efficiency, and support emerging AI-enabled organizational capabilities.
  • User Experience, Standards & Governance - Establishes and promotes enterprise standards for dashboard design, accessibility, usability, branding, documentation, and analytical best practices to ensure analytics remain trusted, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable to use
  • Collaboration & Consulting - Collaborates with university leadership, functional offices, Institutional Research, Information Technology, faculty collaborators, and members of Strategic Impact & Engagement to identify analytical and automation opportunities while translating business needs into practical Power Platform solutions.
  • Training & Technical Leadership - Provides technical guidance, training, and mentorship to student developers and other dashboard contributors while supporting the continued evolution of the UNG Analytics Hub and broader Power Platform capabilities.
  • Professional Development & Other Duties - Maintains current knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform technologies, analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, and user experience best practices while performing other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, DAX, Power Query, semantic modeling, and enterprise dashboard development.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Power Automate and familiarity with Copilot Studio or comparable automation technologies.
  • Strong understanding of data visualization, user experience, accessibility, and dashboard design best practices.
  • Strong analytical reasoning, creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate complex analytical information into intuitive visual experiences for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems, Computer Science, Analytics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Graphic Information Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Experience designing and developing Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models within an enterprise analytics environment.
  • Experience developing automation workflows using Microsoft Power Automate or comparable workflow automation platforms.
  • Experience working with SQL, relational databases, and enterprise analytical datasets.
  • Experience translating business requirements into intuitive analytics and automation solutions that improve organizational decision-making.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred: Master's degree.
  • Preferred Qualifications Experience developing enterprise Power BI environments. Experience establishing enterprise dashboard standards, design systems, or visualization best practices. Experience with Copilot Studio or AI-assisted automation platforms. Experience mentoring developers or student interns. Experience in higher education analytics. Knowledge of FERPA and data governance principles.
