Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate within Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Associate position is to conduct research investigation into the mechanisms underlying the systemic metabolic imbalance that occurs in diet and cancer under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. The Postdoctoral Associate performs research, experiments, and laboratory techniques of a specialized nature under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator and drafts written reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Conducts research experiments to understand the mechanisms that result in diet and cancer and target them for therapy.
- Prepares written reports of the research experiments.
- Prepares grant proposals based on the research conducted.
- Prepares data for presentations and publications. Presents research results at laboratory and scientific meetings at the local and national level.
- Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, lower-level professionals and technicians in laboratory techniques, instrumentation, etc. to develop the skills necessary to perform the required functions.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience - Ph.D. or M.D. in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology or a relevant science required.
- Consideration to interview will also be given to applicants who are in the process of completing their Ph.D. or M.D. degree in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology or a relevant science. Documentation of the required Ph.D. or M.D. degree completion must be provided prior to commencement of employment.
Certifications/LicensesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Effective oral and communication skills.
- Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred QualificationsEquipment UtilizedPhysical Demands and Work Environment - PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: Laboratory environment. Moderate noise. Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases. Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
