Scotia Jarislowsky Fraser (SJF) is expanding and hiring across multiple roles supporting our Total Wealth and discretionary investment management offering. Whether you are a licensed Portfolio Manager, an emerging Associate Portfolio Manager, or a relationship focused Wealth Manager committed towards becoming registered as an APM then PM, we welcome exceptional candidates who are passionate about serving high-net- worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients.

The scope of discretionary authority and portfolio management responsibility varies by licensing level and registration with provincial securities regulators, but ownership of client relationships and business development expectations apply across all roles.

Candidates will be assessed for the role that best aligns with their experience, licensing, and career trajectory.

Preference for candidates based in or mobile across the Markham-Barrie-Aurora corridor.

Core Responsibilities Shared Across All Roles

Business Development & Growth
  • Acquire new HNW and UHNW clients through proactive prospecting, referrals, networking, and centres of influence.
  • Develop and execute client-acquisition strategies aligned with market opportunities and business objectives.
  • Maintain a disciplined and well-documented prospect pipeline to support sustainable, profitable growth.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate assets, deepen client relationships, and increase share of wallet across the client lifecycle


Client Relationship Management & Advice
  • Develop deep, long-term client relationships through ongoing life based discovery.
  • Gain an intimate understanding of clients' goals, circumstances, values, and evolving wealth needs.
  • Deliver holistic wealth advice that integrates investments, planning, tax, insurance, and banking solutions.
  • Proactively identify gaps, risks, and opportunities to enhance client outcomes and experience.
  • Act as the central relationship owner and trusted advisor for clients.
  • Represent SJF internally and externally with professionalism, credibility, and a strong growth mindset.


Risk, Compliance & Professional Standards
  • Ensure complete, accurate, and up to date KYC/IPQ documentation.
  • Maintain ongoing suitability of strategies and recommendations as client circumstances evolve.
  • Operate with strict adherence with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and conduct standards.
  • Uphold SJF's values of integrity, professionalism, and client first decision making.


Team & Culture
  • Collaborate closely with the CRIA team who supports APM and PM development and other Total Wealth partners to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Contribute to a high-performance, inclusive, and growth oriented team culture.

1. Portfolio Manager - SJF (AR Registered, Full Discretion) - L8

Who This Role Is For

Experienced discretionary investment professionals who are fully AR licensed with the provincial securities regulator to manage portfolios and deliver sophisticated investment counselling.

What You Bring
  • CFA charter holder or CIM designation required.
  • Must meet all regulatory requirements for Portfolio Manager registration (AR with the Ontario Securities Commission for example)
  • Minimum 5+ years of discretionary portfolio management experience.
  • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.


2. Associate Portfolio Manager - SJF (AAR Registered, Development Toward Full PM Licensing) - L7

Who This Role Is For

Professionals who are AAR licensed with the provincial securities regulator and on the pathway to Portfolio Manager registration possessing strong investment knowledge and want to grow within SJF's Total Wealth environment.

What You Bring
  • CIM or CFA Level 1 required per regulatory requirements.
  • Must meet all regulatory requirements for Associate Portfolio Manager registration (AAR with the Ontario Securities Commission for example)
  • Interest in pursuing CFA, CFP, and/or LLQP is an asset.
  • Strong investment literacy and ability to explain concepts clearly.
  • Desire to develop into a full discretionary Portfolio Manager role.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills.
  • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.


3. Wealth Manager - SJF (Non-Registrant Relationship Lead) - L8

Who This Role Is For

Professionals who lead client relationships by collaborating closely with SJF's Total Wealth and CRIA teams, without holding discretionary registration. We provide the training and support and opportunity to gain the experience required to become AAR registered and become an Associate Portfolio Manager title.

What You Bring
  • CSC required; CIM preferred (must be completed within 24 months).
  • Interest in pursuing CFA, CFP, and/or LLQP is an asset.
  • Effective communication, relationship management, and business development skills.
  • Business development and client relationship experience in an adjacent occupation (i.e., commercial banking, retail wealth management, mutual funds and insurance sales, accounting and tax planning for wealth management clients, trust or legal backgrounds, experience working with retail and wealth management clients and partners, etc.)
  • Experience with HNW clients or wealth concepts is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in Finance/Business or related fields.
