Position Description:

The Rapid Infrastructure Orchestration (RIO) engineering team is part of the Enterprise Technology and Services Organization in Morgan Stanley. The team creates and maintains platform solutions to allow the firm to manage and configure its infrastructure as code utilizing Ansible and Terraform.

The Platform Architect will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-grade Terraform and Ansible platform spanning private, Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. This role involves close collaboration with multi-cloud platform owners to ensure integration and compliance with central SDLC standards. Emphasizing Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code using modular approach, the engineer will support unified interfaces and processes across all environments, aligning with organizational best practices while adapting to the requirements of each platform.

The ideal candidate should combine strong architectural design skills and practical programming experience with operational discipline to deliver stable, automated platform solutions suitable for enterprise use.

Required Skills:

  • 8+ years of IT experience with a focus on cloud infrastructure engineering and automation
  • Expertise in designing and integrating with enterprise cloud environments, including hands-on experience with Kubernetes, networking, storage, and security services on multiple platforms.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code development
  • Proven experience architecting and operating CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure using GitHub Actions, Jekins, Azure DevOps, or similar CI/CD tools.
  • Advanced development skills in Python for automation, integration, and troubleshooting
  • Strong background working with modern authentication and authorizations frameworks (e.g. OAuth, ODIC, MTLS)
  • Strong working experience on relational databases and webservers
  • Strong communication, problem solving and collaboration abilities


Desired Skills:

  • Experience in leading cloud migration projects
  • Experience in infrastructure deployment and management across Private, Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud platforms
  • Understanding of the specific security requirements and governance standards on Cloud platforms
  • Experience in developing and enforcing security policies, role-based access control (RBAC), and governance frameworks via federated identities
  • Experience on automation with Ansible playbooks highly desired
  • Experience on policy enforcement with Terraform, especially Terraform Enterprise highly desired

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $125,000 and $175,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
