Summary

Assists in the daily management and coordination of the planning of NYPA's overall operations projects and programs, which may include: schedule management and review, resource and cost plan maintenance, work order creation, and other specified duties.

The Planner is responsible for maintenance adherence and resource utilization. The Planner supports facility operations and maintenance departments by providing critical decision-making skills as it relates to the oversight and management of NYPA's preventative maintenance management programs. The Planner is responsible for tracking, managing and ensuring NYPA's regulatory compliance in connection with NERC functional entities (GOP, GO, LSE, PSE, TO and TOP); FERC; DEC; RGGI and others. The Planner is also responsible for resource utilization in the planning, scheduling and evaluating of all work tasks within the Corrective, Predictive, Preventive, Major Maintenance, Modification and Major Improvement Programs.

The planner is responsible for supporting and aiding the Workload Planning group for enterprise-wide policies, procedures and guidelines that promote strategic risk-based and fact-based methodologies to manage infrastructure assets. The scope of responsibility includes a long-term perspective that requires the utilization of life cycle analysis and techniques to ensure alignment with Asset Management policy and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Supports projects with detailed information as it relates to critical project controls elements, which may include resource and cost planning and analysis, scheduling, schedule analysis, and reporting.
  • Ensure project planning data is kept up-to-date and accurate at pre-defined intervals as defined by NYPA procedures
  • Develop and maintain project plans and work orders across an assigned program(s) of work.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Project Management and/or industry standard methodologies and tools to provide technical expertise to projects as it relates to project planning.
  • Coordinate and correlate plan information with cost and resources required to complete work.
  • Coordinate and assist with project reporting to leads, monitoring of deliverables, and coordination of work within or between departments.
  • Review and analyze third party schedules or plan information for quality and consistency.
  • Identify and communicate key risks or opportunities that emanate from the impacts of risks to the project plan.
  • Responsible for reviewing schedules and resource plans monthly with project teams and communicating key risks or opportunities that emanate from the impacts of schedule delays or advancements.
  • Develop and update detailed construction level schedules and co-ordinate with other site construction work.
  • Coordinate capital work and outage work with site planners and construction management.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to view tasks logically, break them down into essential requirements, and generate a solution to meet the project goals.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in either industry-standard planning software.
  • Broad experience and knowledge in project plan analysis and development.
  • Working knowledge of industry best practices as it relates to project planning.
  • Ability to build working relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Effective communication and writing skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products.


Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in a Project Planning capacity is required.
  • Experience using the following software as it relates to this role is required: SAP, Maximo, Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore.
  • Experience in the electrical utility industry is required.


Physical Requirements

  • Approximately 25% travel primarily within NY State
  • Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer and telephone

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
