The People Technology Solutions team (within our People Operations organization) supports the enabling technology foundation for candidate and employee experience at eBay. Our ecosystem is anchored in Workday HCM and complemented by outstanding SaaS platforms, custom applications, analytics, and next-generation technology innovations.
We are looking for a product-minded People Technology Analyst to help build and expand eBay's People Team technology ecosystem. This role will partner closely with Global Payroll, People Operations, Finance, IT, Security, and external payroll vendors to understand business needs, define product priorities, and deliver scalable technology solutions that improve payroll operations, compliance, data quality, and employee experience.
While Workday and Payroll integrations form a core part of this role, the scope includes more than just Workday configuration. The successful candidate will approach payroll technology holistically, encompassing integrations, middleware, workflow automation, AI-enhanced capabilities, custom applications, reporting, and user experience. This person will support the transformation of payroll strategy into scalable technology solutions while continuously advancing operational efficiency and enabling future innovation.
This individual contributor opportunity involves a hybrid work format with presence expected at our Salt Lake City or Austin office. The role requires being onsite three days each week at one of these offices. Flexibility in working hours is also necessary to accommodate global teamwork as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a product-focused technology collaborator for eBay's People and Payroll technology ecosystem, with Workday HCM functioning as the system of record.
- Contribute to the payroll technology roadmap by balancing business priorities, operational requirements, user experience, compliance, and technical feasibility.
- Collaborate with Global Payroll, People Operations, Finance, IT, Security, and external payroll vendors to understand business needs, define requirements, prioritize improvements, and deliver scalable solutions.

Year-end payroll technology readiness - Collaborate with IT integration teams and external vendors to build, develop, test, and support secure, reliable, and scalable integrations between Workday and payroll providers.
- Translate business and technical requirements into user stories, business process flows, solution builds, business rules, success metrics, and implementation plans.
- Partner with technical teams to build and support APIs, Workday web services, middleware solutions, and integration frameworks.
- See chances to improve operation processes using automation, AI, and workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Workday Developer Agent, Sana Agent Builder, Workday Extend or similar technologies).
- Contribute to building custom applications through Workday Extend in cases where specialized payroll or People Operations solutions are necessary.
- Develop reports, dashboards, calculated fields, and data validations that improve People Team accuracy, operational visibility, and decision making.
- Provide production support, troubleshoot integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement scalable corrective actions.
- Support releases, regression testing, deployment planning, and post-production validation activities.
- Partner with IT and Security to ensure integrations and payroll solutions meet enterprise architecture, security, privacy, and governance standards.
- Support change management, communications, documentation, training, and adoption for new payroll technology capabilities.
- Take part in internal audits, SOX controls, data privacy assessments, and compliance-related documentation.
- Maintain functional and technical documentation including requirements, solution builds, process maps, test scripts, release notes, support documentation, and integration inventories.
- Stay informed about Workday advancements, payroll technology developments, AI functionalities, integration methods, and new HR technology options, evaluating their relevance to eBay's People technology ecosystem.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Human Resources, Business, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of hands-on HRIS, payroll technology, enterprise applications, or related experience.
- 3+ years of experience supporting Workday HCM, including experience with payroll-related business processes, integrations, or configuration.
- Experience partnering with payroll vendors and multi-functional technology teams to deliver integration and system improvements.
- Solid understanding of payroll processes, employee master data, and HR and Payroll integrations.
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into scalable technical solutions.
- Experience assisting with enterprise integrations, APIs, middleware, Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Workday web services, or similar integration technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to pinpoint root causes and propose scalable improvements.
- Strong collaborator management and communication abilities with the capacity to convey technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
- Practical understanding of payroll regulations, SOX controls, data privacy, and information security considerations.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced global environment.
- Up to date on emerging AI trends in HR technology and capable of evaluating their relevance within eBay's People technology ecosystem.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience assisting global payroll processes across various countries and regions.
- Experience working with enterprise payroll providers such as Dayforce, Safeguard Global, Deel or similar global payroll platforms.
- Familiarity with Workday Payroll, Payroll Interface, Cloud Connect, Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Workday APIs, or Workday Orchestrate.
- Experience developing or maintaining applications using Workday Extend.
- Experience with Workday reporting, calculated fields, dashboards, composite reports, and Prism Analytics.
- Previous experience demonstrating AI capabilities to improve operational efficiency, documentation, issue resolution, testing, workflow automation, or employee self-service.
- 1 or more years experience using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Claude Code) to draft functional specifications, business requirements, integration documentation, test scripts, release notes, training materials, and crafting user documentation.
- Experience with workflow automation or platforms for building agents (e.g., Sana Agent Builder, Glean, or similar technologies) is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting global People Operations across several regions (EMEA/APAC/LATAM) is strongly preferred.
Additional DetailsThe base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$86,800 - $150,100
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
