This RoleWe're looking for a
People Operations Associate to support the day-to-day operational backbone of Norm's People function, with a focus on pre-boarding, compliance, and process infrastructure. As a member of the People & Talent team, you'll be the first point of contact for new hires before they start, help keep our vendor and compliance processes running smoothly, and review and revamp the SOPs that let People Ops scale.
This role is ideal for someone early in their People Ops career who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning processes end-to-end. You're a self-starter who's motivated by ambiguity, someone who isn't afraid to dig in, figure things out, and move fast in a dynamic environment.
What You'll Do- Own the pre-boarding experience for new hires, including full completion and upkeep of the Pre-boarding Tracker.
- Manage background check compliance, ensuring checks are initiated, tracked, and resolved in line with policy and regulatory requirements.
- Research new vendors and partner on rollout for tools/services that support People Ops.
- Build and maintain People Ops SOPs to create consistent, scalable processes.
- Support employee accommodation requests, coordinating with relevant stakeholders while maintaining confidentiality.
- Help draft, roll out, and communicate new people policies.
- Serve as the first line of response for employee questions (including piloting Norm Ai as a point of contact/PoC for common inquiries).
- Manage contractor onboarding, tracking, and offboarding.
Skills & Experience - Core- 1-3 years of experience in People Operations, HR, or a related operations/compliance role (startup or high-growth experience a plus).
- Strong process orientation, comfortable building and following SOPs, and improving them over time.
- Experience with (or quick to learn) background check platforms and compliance tracking.
- Familiarity with vendor evaluation/rollout processes.
- Comfort handling sensitive information (e.g., accommodations, background checks) with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, you'll often be the first response to employee questions.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent processes in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Comfortability working with AI tools/systems (e.g., piloting AI-assisted employee support).
Compensation & Benefits$95,000-$115,000 per year plus equity.
The range displayed reflects the target base salary for this role. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors including experience, skills, and interview performance. Equity and benefits are additional.
