The University of Virginia's Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology is searching for a full-time Pediatric Allergist/Immunologist faculty member at rank of Assistant or Associate Professor on the Clinical Faculty (non-tenure) track. Rank, tenure status, and salary are dependent upon qualifications. The appointee will focus on the clinical care of children with pediatric allergic disorders including asthma, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis, and urticaria, as well as children with a variety of immunodeficiency concerns. This position also affords the appointee a unique and exciting opportunity to participate in the newly approved UVA Food and Digestive Allergic Diseases Center of Excellence, by expanding access to world-class food allergy clinical care in Charlottesville and across the Commonwealth of Virginia, including supervising oral immunotherapy (OIT) and oral food challenges. Interest and/or experience in the multidisciplinary care of patients with Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders (EGIDs) is also preferred. Satellite clinic opportunities may also be explored. The appointee will also perform inpatient consults at UVA in collaboration with the Division of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology in the Department of Medicine, and is expected to be proficient in the evaluation and management of pediatric immunodeficiency and immunodysregulatory disorders. The appointee will be a collaborative member of the Division and be positioned to succeed in a dynamic academic environment and advance the clinical, educational, and scholarly goals we offer. Other duties will include the teaching and supervision of GME trainees and medical students.
In addition to the nationally recognized food allergy and EGID programs within the new Center of Excellence, the Division boasts a nationally recognized primary immunodeficiency program, a multidisciplinary high-risk asthma clinic, a unique multidisciplinary GI-Allergy clinic focused on FPIES and Alpha-Gal Syndrome, a rapidly growing Rheumatology program, and a drug allergy assessment program, all with exciting and diverse clinical research opportunities. Numerous collaborations with the Division of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology in the Department of Medicine in basic science and translational research, as well as the teaching and training of allergy/immunology fellows, are also available, and make for a ripe academic environment and potential for exciting future research opportunities, if interested.
