The Opportunity What does it take to make sure thousands of TMU employees can focus on their work with confidence? Sometimes, it starts with getting every paycheque right. As a Payroll Specialist, you'll play a critical behind-the-scenes role in supporting the people who make Toronto Metropolitan University thrive. Your expertise will help ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, while payroll and benefits obligations are administered with care, precision, and in accordance with university policies, collective agreements, and government regulations.
Working across Time & Labour and Absence Management, you'll help ensure that the information behind every payroll is accurate, complete, and properly processed. You'll serve as a trusted resource for employees and colleagues, responding to requests, resolving issues, and helping navigate the processes and systems that support accurate payroll administration.
You'll process weekly payroll, administer and validate bi-weekly payroll entries, and support other payroll activities as assigned. With a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of payroll requirements, you'll identify discrepancies, address issues, and help ensure that payroll obligations are met consistently and accurately.
Your work will require more than technical payroll expertise. It will require discretion, reliability, sound judgment, and a genuine commitment to service. When an employee has a question about their time, leave, or pay, you'll help provide the clarity and confidence they need.
Much of your work may happen behind the scenes. When payroll works seamlessly, thousands of TMU employees can focus on what they do best: teaching, learning, researching, supporting students, and building a better university.
If you're a detail-oriented payroll professional who takes pride in getting the important things right, enjoys solving problems, and understands the trust that comes with being responsible for someone's pay, this is an opportunity to make an essential contribution to the TMU community.
