Full Job Description
Position Summary:

The Packaging Specialist drives the development and implementation of compliant, high-quality, and sustainable packaging solutions aligned with Nestlé packaging standards. This role has a direct impact on product quality, operational efficiency, cost optimization, and speed-to-market by leading SAP packaging integration, innovation and renovation initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.

Acting as a packaging subject matter expert, the Packaging Specialist partners cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, R&D, Procurement, and other stakeholders to deliver packaging solutions that enhance value for patients, consumers, and customers. Through strong technical leadership and hands-on support to Operators and Supervisors, this role enables reliable execution, supports innovation, and drives long-term business performance.

This hybrid position requires regular onsite collaboration, with 2-3 days per week based at our Sudbury, MA location. Additionally, this role requires routine travel to other manufacturing facilities to support business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a packaging subject matter expert, supporting initiatives that enable new product launches, improve productivity and quality, and reduce cost
  • Lead packaging solutions that minimize distribution damage and cost while delivering competitive advantage
  • Develop and implement new and revised packaging concepts and processes with a focus on sustainability, functionality, and consumer value
  • Partner cross-functionally with Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality/R&D, and Sales/Marketing to manage material qualification and project execution
  • Provide technical leadership for the installation and commissioning of packaging equipment and line layout modifications
  • Deliver frontline technical support to manufacturing sites and ensure effective knowledge transfer to build packaging capability and reduce recurring issues
  • Support SAP integration through creation and maintenance of packaging specifications


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Packaging Science, Packaging Engineering, Food Science, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant packaging industry experience, preferably within the food and beverage industry
  • Strong understanding of packaging design, materials, equipment, and systems, including SAP integration
  • Working knowledge of project lifecycle management, including schedules, deliverables, and contracts
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and food safety standards applicable to packaging operations
  • Experience with SAP preferred; CAPE Palletization Program experience a plus

The approximate pay range for this position is $95,000- $105,000 base. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location.
