POSITION OVERVIEW
The PID and 3D Piping Designer is responsible for the design of process and instrumentation diagrams and 3D piping models for company projects. The role supports both quotation and project teams, providing technical expertise in PID design and 3D piping. The PID and 3D Piping Designer works closely with project/process engineers, construction, sales, and controls to ensure PIDs and 3D piping are designed to meet specifications, industry standards, and customer needs
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quotation Support
- Provide quote PIDs, 3D piping layouts, and technical input for potential projects
- Review customer P&IDs, contracts, and process descriptions to determine process needs
- Advise sales teams on missing information, risks, and constraints
Project Process Design
- Design process and instrumentation drawings, 3D piping layouts, and select equipment and instrumentation with direction from engineering using AutoCAD Plant 3D
- Advise project/process engineers on missing information, risks, constraints
- Document and maintain PID and 3D piping drawings per company policy
PIEL Integration
- Prepare bills of materials and piping and instrumentation equipment lists (PIELs) according to company procedures
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with process engineers, project engineers, and peers to align designs
- Share technical expertise, advice, and improvements to support project execution
- Communicate effectively with engineers, controls, and sales to resolve issues
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Education: Two-year Associates/Technical degree or relevant work experience
Experience: Experience in process flow and process and instrumentation diagrams is preferred
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of process systems and equipment, Autodesk Plant 3D software, and process instrumentation and equipment
Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Effective communication and teamwork
- Ability to manage tasks within project schedules and budgets
TRAVEL:
- Must be willing to travel 10-15% of the time.
