The Outpatient Pharmacist – Float supports the Independence Family Health Center pharmacy, which processes approximately 340 prescriptions per day. This caregiver will support a variety of outpatient pharmacy functions, including prescription verification and filling, chart review, inventory management and stocking, and providing excellent customer service to patients and caregivers. As a float pharmacist, the role offers flexibility and exposure to the pharmacy's daily operational and clinical workflows.

A caregiver in this role will work full-time Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00am and 8:00pm with rotating weekends every 7-8 weekends at the Euclid Ave Pharmacy. One holiday every 5-4 years. They will also float to all Northeast Ohio locations including Avon, Medina, Twinsburg, Willoughby and Independence FHC.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered and evidence-based medication services. 
  • Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal guidelines. 
  • Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner. 
  • Actively contribute to medication safety initiatives. 
  • Utilize available technology proficiently and to full extent. 
  • Ensure all pharmacy operations are in compliance with national accreditation standards. 
  • Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences.  
  • Direct staff appropriately to provide safe and efficient care. 
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all caregivers at every location. 
  • Promote a positive work environment by providing constructive ideas and feedback to improve services and the department.  
  • Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers and/or patients. 
  • Provide cost-effective care.  
  • Account for drug use policy adherence. 
  • Utilize time and resources effectively. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • PharmD or Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited university of pharmacy 
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh), or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire. 
  • For individuals required to administer immunizations, current Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross certification and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire are required.  

  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Board Certification 
  • Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience preferred 
  • Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a Specialized Pharmacy practice area

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time. 
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision.
  • Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
