What You Will DoSupport Sigma Operations process-improvement based work with a strong emphasis on quality assurance and compliance. This role focuses on assisting, learning, and executing quality-focused operational tasks while supporting process improvement initiatives led by senior staff. You will help ensure work is documented, compliant, and completed accurately, maintaining focus on quality assurance, process improvement, and programmatic operations.
Specific duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Operations Support Specialist 2 - Support quality assurance activities across Sigma Division
- Assist with execution and documentation of quality-related operational processes
- Support process improvement initiatives and program development
- Support operational effectiveness reviews and issues management actions
- Assist with the creation of documentation related to quality assurance, process improvement, and programmatic operations
- Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audits, assessments and compliance document and records requirements
- Coordinate with team members and stakeholders to support on-time, high-quality deliverables
- Identify and escalate risks, documentation gaps, or process inconsistencies
- Provide customer service and administrative operational support as needed
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements: - Experience supporting quality assurance, compliance, or process improvement for operations work
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and records management
- Experience following established procedures and requirements
- Ability to identify documentation gaps or compliance risks, escalating issues when appropriate
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
- Commitment to safety, security, and compliance
Education/Experience: Position requires a Associate's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution and 4 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications: - Experience working within a Quality Management System (QMS)
- Exposure to audits, assessments, or quality reviews
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, or Human Performance Improvement (HPI)
- Experience supporting technical environments
- Active Q clearance
Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
