Full Job Description

As the Operations Engineer, you will provide direction regarding the maintenance of the ERU (Energy Recovery Unit) to ensure all equipment and facilities are operating in a safe, efficient, dependable, and environmentally sound manner. You will be responsible for administering the Preventative Maintenance program, coordinating activities between ERU staff and outside contractors, and ensuring compliance with all environmental permits. Additionally, you will assist in project engineering, manage the maintenance budget, and provide technical assistance and training to ERU personnel.

You will be based onsite at PPG's Circleville, OH plant and report to the Energy Recovery Unit Manager. PPG offers excellent Medical, Dental, & Vision Benefits; matching 401k + retirement savings; and Paid Vacation, Holiday pay.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer the ERU Preventative Maintenance program and related activities to maintain equipment efficiency.
  • Oversee the Leak Detection/Repair Program to ensure safety and environmental compliance.
  • Coordinate activities between ERU staff and outside contractors to ensure seamless operations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement semi-annual ERU maintenance shutdowns.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental permits and regulations.
  • Assist in project engineering to improve plant operations and resolve recurring issues.
  • Review and update the spare parts inventory to reduce downtime.
  • Assist in maintaining the ERU maintenance budget and understanding monthly cost and variance statements.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to ERU personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Track maintenance history and implement changes to reduce or eliminate recurring problems.
  • Conduct safety and health audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Facilitate contractor safety orientations and ensure good housekeeping practices.
  • Serve as back-up to first-line supervisors as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical) with 5+ years of mechanical, chemical or industrial experience OR a high school diploma/GED with 15+ years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand accounting principles related to capital requests, budget management, and cost analysis.
  • General knowledge of storeroom systems, preventative maintenance systems, and operating permits.
  • Willingness or ability to obtain a boiler operator's license from the State of Ohio.
