Scope
The Operational Accounting Mangager oversees the production accounting business cycle for Client Service Teams (CST) while working closely with the Director of Operational Accounting and the Department Management Group to support the company’s financial success and goals.
Principal Responsibilities
- Supervise Financial Business Manager (FBM) positions, their performance effectiveness, job satisfaction, and monitors the workload of each Financial Business Unit (FBU) to ensure corporate wide billing effectiveness
- Work with the FBM and Team Financial Assistants (TFA) to monitor the accurate and timely billing of clients for the services provided by IMEG
- Work closely with Client Service Teams (CST) to ensure open communication and transparency
- Actively participate in process reviews and multidisciplinary committees to identify opportunities for improvement within the operational accounting process and enable a more efficient and effective delivery system to the client
- Assist the Director of Financial Accounting and Director of Operational Accounting in the preparation for the annual financial statement audit including assisting with information requests from the auditor
- Assist the Mergers and Acquisition Team, Director of Operational Accounting and Chief Financial Officer with acquisitions
- Interact with corporate leadership, managers and team leaders when necessary
- Maintain confidentiality of all corporate, personnel and project/client related material
- Ability to travel up to 30% with occasional overnight stays
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
- Knowledge of accounting transaction flows and understanding of their implication and application to the financial statements of IMEG
- Knowledge of economic principles and practices and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Knowledge of professional services business model and practice, specifically as they apply to an engineering consulting services firm
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to see details at close range
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents
- Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Advanced in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
Education and Experience
- Associates degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent required; bachelors degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience as an accountant or business management role required
- Experience with MIS and accounting systems including Deltek VantagePoint and Elevia
Salary Range: $85,000 6 $95,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
