Job DescriptionJob Title: Associate Manager, Property Accounting
Location: Dallas, TX (hybrid) or San Antonio, TX (hybrid)
About the RoleJoin a dynamic Real Estate Investment Accounting team supporting the financial reporting of diverse property portfolios acquired and developed through a range of investment and fund vehicles. You'll gain hands-on exposure to office, multifamily, industrial, retail, hotel, and mixed-use assets, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of property-level financials through review and validation of third-party general ledgers. This role offers close collaboration with fund accounting teams, providing a unique opportunity to see the full investment lifecycle from property operations through fund-level reporting.
How You Will Make an Impact - Review and oversee lease accounting activities, including TI allowances, rent escalations, CAM reconciliations, straight-line rent, and lease incentives, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of property-level activity to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines
- Manage accounting for acquisitions and dispositions, including prorations, A/R analysis, gain/loss projections, and support for purchase price allocations
- Partner with capital markets on debt transactions, covenant testing, and lender reporting requirements
- Serve as a key liaison for third-party accountants, providing oversight, guidance, and issue resolution for property-level accounting
- Support onboarding and training of third-party managers, including setup of properties, leases, vendors, and bank accounts
- Review WIP balances and ensure proper capitalization, asset placement in service, and useful life determinations
- Calculate and review property management and construction fees in accordance with contractual agreements
- Act as the primary accounting contact for Asset Management, supporting cash flow forecasting and investment-level planning
- Assist with tax and financial reporting deliverables, including GAAP disclosures and supporting schedules for audits and filings
- Collaborate with auditors and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Contribute to special projects and support implementation of technical accounting updates and process improvements
Required Experience - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of experience of relevant commercial real estate accounting experience
What Sets You Apart - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with Yardi highly preferred
- Collaborative team player who can also work independently and take initiative
- Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- CPA preferred
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
