  • SALARY RANGE: $130,000-$250,000/year (negotiable)

About the Role

As their Nursing Home Litigation Attorney, you will lead and manage plaintiff-side nursing home abuse and neglect matters across the litigation lifecycle. Direct nursing home or elder abuse litigation experience is highly valuable, but we are also open to strong civil litigators who have the writing, deposition, case management, and analytical skills to succeed in this specialized practice area.

You will have meaningful autonomy over your cases while working with medical, healthcare, forensic, and other experts to build compelling claims for clients and their families. Depending on your experience, this role offers room to grow from independently managing litigation matters to taking greater responsibility for complex cases and first-chair opportunities.

This is a fully remote position, and you may live anywhere in the United States as long as you are actively licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of California. Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM Pacific Time.

Responsibilities
  • Lead nursing home abuse and neglect cases through investigation, discovery, depositions, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation
  • Build persuasive case strategies by analyzing medical records, evidence, expert reports, facility documentation, and applicable regulations
  • Draft and review high-quality pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents
  • Conduct thorough legal research using platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis to strengthen legal arguments and case strategy
  • Take and prepare for depositions while identifying the testimony and evidence needed to advance each client's case
  • Maintain clear, compassionate communication with clients and families, providing legal guidance and meaningful case updates throughout the litigation process
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, forensic specialists, medical experts, and other consultants to develop strong liability and damages evidence
  • Independently manage deadlines, case priorities, documentation, and litigation workflows within a modern remote practice
  • Help move matters toward strong outcomes while maintaining the professional judgment, organization, and attention to detail required in high-stakes elder abuse litigation
  • Build long-term expertise within the firm and take on increasing responsibility as your experience and caseload develop

Requirements

Must-Have:

  • Active California Bar license in good standing
  • Plaintiff-side litigation experience, with the ability to independently manage civil litigation matters
  • Strong legal writing, research, deposition, and case strategy skills
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple litigation matters, deadlines, and competing priorities
  • Clear and professional client communication skills, including the ability to work sensitively with individuals and families affected by abuse or neglect
  • Ability to work remotely using legal technology and maintain working availability Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM Pacific Time

Nice to Have:
  • Direct nursing home abuse, elder abuse, neglect, or long-term care litigation experience
  • Familiarity with California skilled nursing facility regulations, including Title 22
  • Knowledge of federal nursing home requirements under OBRA and related regulations
  • Experience working with medical records, healthcare experts, forensic specialists, or complex damages evidence
  • Experience using Filevine, Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar litigation technology

Benefits
  • 100% employer-paid private HMO/PPO medical insurance, with the ability to add a spouse or dependent at no additional cost to the employee
  • Dental, vision, and life insurance programs
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • 9 additional paid holidays
  • Firm-sponsored team outings and events
