Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Primary Care - California

Position Overview The Nurse Practitioner provides high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced primary care setting. This role manages acute and chronic conditions, performs routine outpatient procedures, and ensures seamless clinic throughput while serving a diverse patient population across all age groups.

Responsibilities
  • Patient Volume: Manage an active clinical schedule, efficiently diagnosing, treating, and managing an average of 20-25 patients per day across all age groups.
  • Clinic Flow & Efficiency: Maintain a high standard of clinical throughput, managing patient encounters effectively to ensure timely care without compromising quality or patient satisfaction.
  • Clinical Care & Disease Management: Perform comprehensive physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic test results, formulate differential diagnoses, and manage acute illness as well as chronic conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, asthma).
  • Prescriptive Authority & Referrals: Manage prescription therapies and refills safely, order necessary laboratory/imaging studies, and coordinate specialist referrals or clinical follow-ups.
  • Procedures & In-Office Interventions: Perform routine primary care procedures (e.g., minor skin procedures, joint injections, simple laceration repairs, pap smears) and oversee clinical support staff during minor office interventions.
  • Interprofessional Collaboration: Partner closely with attending physicians, fellow advanced practice providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • EMR Utilization & Charting: Maintain precise, timely, and complete clinical documentation within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems (e.g., Epic, NextGen) in accordance with billing, coding, and quality guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • Licensure & Certification: Active, unencumbered California Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license; Board Certification (FNP preferred) via AANP or ANCC; active California Furnishing License and DEA registration.
  • Clinical Proficiency: Expertise in advanced health assessment, diagnostic reasoning, pharmacology, preventative medicine, and routine outpatient procedures.
  • System Familiarity: Demonstrated proficiency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and compliant clinical documentation practices.
  • Pace & Resilience: Proven track record of managing a high-volume, fast-paced primary care patient schedule efficiently.
  • Soft Skills: Outstanding bedside manner, strong verbal and written communication skills, cultural competency, and a collaborative team mindset.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of post-licensure NP experience in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Primary Care strongly preferred.
