Job Title: Automation Engineer (Laboratory) - NGS / Liquid Biopsy
About the RoleWe are seeking a motivated
Automation Engineer with a strong interest or hands-on experience in
Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS),
laboratory automation, and
liquid handling systems to join our growing team. You'll help design, optimize, and support automated workflows that improve the efficiency, scalability, and precision of our sequencing pipeline - working cross-functionally with lab operations, IT, and quality teams. Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and support automated liquid handling systems for NGS assays
- Assist in translating and optimizing manual laboratory processes onto automated platforms
- Provide training and technical support during rollout of new automated methods
- Author and maintain SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and quality documentation for regulatory compliance
- Support instrument configuration documentation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and change control
- Complete quality documentation and ensure adherence to internal and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, Facilities, and Lab Operations
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology, or a related field
- 1-3+ years of laboratory automation, biotech, or NGS-related experience (recent graduates with strong internship/research automation experience welcome to apply)
- Experience or familiarity with Hamilton liquid handling systems and Venus software preferred; scheduling software experience a plus
- Exposure to lab automation platforms and instrumentation (e.g., Agilent, Bio-Rad, Thermo Fisher) and lab software (e.g., BIOlims) preferred
- Understanding of barcoding, labware management, and sample traceability tools
- Interest in process development, scale-up, and troubleshooting within a lab or manufacturing setting
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to document technical processes clearly
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance and configuration management concepts (CLIA/CAP a plus)
