Full Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Systems Engineer to support a large-scale Department of Defense enterprise network program supporting one of the world's largest intranet environments. This position is on-site in Pearl Harbor, HI (PRLH), with alternate locations available in Whidbey Island, WA (WHDB) or Norfolk, VA (NRFK). The Network Systems Engineer will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for enterprise network engineering, Tier III troubleshooting, configuration management, and network modernization initiatives across a geographically dispersed environment. Responsibilities for the Network Systems Engineer include:
  • Lead troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution of complex enterprise network issues across LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD-WAN, VPN, and network boundary environments.
  • Configure, maintain, and support routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, VLANs, and network security infrastructure.
  • Develop Engineering Implementation Plans (EIPs), manage change requests, conduct root cause analysis, and support enterprise network deployments.
  • Maintain configuration baselines, ensure DISA STIG compliance, and conduct lab validation testing for upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.
  • Participate in Agile/SAFe ceremonies, collaborate with engineering teams, and support future-state network architecture and modernization efforts.

Required Qualifications for the Network Systems Engineer include:
  • 8+ years of professional experience with enterprise network engineering, troubleshooting, and operations support within large-scale environments.
  • Extensive experience supporting LAN/WAN/WLAN, routing, switching, SD-WAN, MPLS, VPNs, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, multicast, firewalls, and network security technologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, configuration management, and problem-solving skills with experience providing Tier III escalation support.
  • Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience or Master's degree with 6-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required; must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification (CASP+, CISSP, CCNP Security, or equivalent).
  • Cisco CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent network vendor certification required.

Compensation for the Network Systems Engineer include:
  • Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000depending on experience
  • Full Benefits Package: PTO, Paid Holidays, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Tuition Reimbursement, Sick Leave as required by law
