Education, Training, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Engineering, or similar; or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 2-5 years experience as a Network Engineer, with demonstrated continual increase in responsibilities.
  • Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+ Certifications preferred.
  • Network Tools experience (MRTG, PRTG, FTP Client/Server etc.) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of networking and systems along with successful and demonstrable experience implementing complex data center architectures.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise class Cisco network switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of Layer 2 and 3 switching including STP, ARP, 802.1q VLANs, VTP, HSRP.
  • Knowledge of Routing BGP, OSPF area architectures, redistribution of routing protocols and static routes.
  • Knowledge of PPTP & L2TP and the ability to apply this knowledge on deployments & troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Knowledge of AAA - Radius, Cisco ISE.
  • Knowledge of capacity planning.
  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and Panorama is preferred.
  • Understanding of Domain Name Service (DNS) and DHCP.
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies (GSM, CDMA, 4G).
  • Understanding of Access Control Lists (ACL's) for security and routing purposes.
  • Knowledge of VLANs, Firewalls, IPSEC, SSL VPNs, MPLS in a provider environment.
  • Working knowledge of monitoring and management solutions.
  • Understanding of network risk assessment process and contingency planning.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and implement software patches or hardware changes.
  • Basic working knowledge of packet capture technology and the ability to apply the knowledge quickly when troubleshooting a problem.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other areas of the infrastructure and applications teams.
  • Ability to provide off-hours operational support when necessary.
  • Provide on-site or out of premises support to local staff and field technicians when requested.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language.
  • Highly self motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Able to work under minimal supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Network Manager and Director of IT, duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Document, review and enhance network topology and performance.
  • Ensure standards and process compliance with network engineering standards and processes across multiple data centers and remote sites.
  • Plan and document new product deployments and the associated network infrastructure changes.
  • Monitor and maintain the hardware and software for the network.
  • Infrastructure device upgrades or replacements.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, isolate, and document problems.
  • Perform the first level of support for remote network and server administrative staff.
  • Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance changes during off hour.

Work Environment
  • On-call availability 24x7
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of time
