Job Description
Seeking a Network Engineer to play a key role in the modernization, security, and support of our client's statewide network infrastructure.

This position is primarily remote but requires onsite work in the State of Wisconsin. Candidates must reside in Wisconsin and possess a valid driver's license.

Important Information:

Interview Process: MS Teams with camera on. 2nd round may be necessary.

Duration of the Contract: 6/30/2027 with extensions possible.

Onsite or Remote: Candidate MUST be a Wisconsin resident. No relocation is allowed. This is a remote position that may occasionally require on-site attendance or travel within the state if issues arise. The role can be performed 100% remotely while residing in Wisconsin.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Planning:

    • Design,implement, maintain, and secure enterprise LAN, WAN, VPN, firewall, andcloud networks.
    • Collaboratewith infrastructure, systems, security, and application development teamsto deliver highly available, secure, and scalable network services.

oCreate and maintain network diagrams, security configurations, and operational documentation.

oCoordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to develop projects, their scopes, timelines, and management.

Execution and Installation:

    • Planand execute statewide network update initiatives, including hardwarelifecycle replacements and infrastructure upgrades.


Operations and Support:

    • Configure,optimize, secure, and support routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, networkauthentication services, and cloud networking solutions.
    • Standardizeand automate network administration through scripting and configurationmanagement tools.
    • Monitornetwork availability, utilization, latency, throughput, and securitywhile identifying trends and recommending improvements.
    • Maintainnetwork vulnerability monitoring and remediate vulnerabilities accordingto security and operational requirements.

oPerform onsite installation, troubleshooting, optimization, and lifecycle replacement of network equipment throughout Wisconsin.

Security

    • Analyzeexisting infrastructure and recommend enhancements that improve security,resiliency, scalability, and operational efficiency.
    • Maintainnetwork infrastructure compliance with security policies and applicableregulatory requirements through auditing, testing, and implementation ofsecurity controls.


Other

    • Participatein planned after-hours maintenance activities and emergency support whenrequired.
    • Performadditional duties as assigned.


Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 11+years of progressively responsible experience designing, implementing,securing, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Experiencedesigning, deploying, securing, supporting, and monitoring on-premises andcloud-based networks.
  • Strongexperience with LAN/WAN technologies, including routing, switching, VLANs,QoS, NAT, static and dynamic routing, and VPNs.
  • Experienceconfiguring and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, VPNconcentrators, and secure remote access solutions.
  • Strongunderstanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, IP addressing, ACLs, routingprotocols, network authentication, and data encryption.
  • Experiencemonitoring network health, latency, throughput, capacity, and availabilitywhile analyzing trends to improve reliability and performance.
  • Strongtroubleshooting and root cause analysis skills involving complex networkand infrastructure issues.
  • Experiencedocumenting enterprise network architecture, standards, configurations,and operational procedures.
  • Experienceworking in environments that require regulatory compliance.
  • Experiencewith vulnerability management, remediation, and network assessments.
  • Experiencecollaborating with cross-functional technical teams using Agile or similarproject methodologies.
  • Excellentwritten, verbal, and customer service skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experiencewith networking in cloud and hybrid infrastructures.
  • Experiencewith role-based and policy-based access controls.
  • Experiencewith network automation using scripting technologies.
  • Experienceplanning and executing multi-site infrastructure upgrades.
  • Experiencedeveloping Statements of Work (SOWs), project scopes, and collaboratingwith vendors.
  • Experiencepresenting technical solutions to both technical and non-technicalaudiences.


Benefits

Hourly rate for 1099: $68.00

Hourly rate for W2: $48.00
