Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

APP Coverage/interaction to improve patient care and throughput in RNICU. This Lead position will promote safety and quality in clinical care, contributing to research and teaching and provides leadership in the organization. This APP will participate on quality improvement initiatives within the RNICU as well as units impacting RNICU.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
  • Represent RNICU/Neonatology medical team at various meetings (or designate a delegate), such as JPQI, quality team (not limited to these)
  • Serve as contact point/liaison between Neonatology medical team and other departments, administration, and medical staff
  • Complete monthly staffing schedules for Neonatology Medical team and distribute
  • Facilitate data gathering for projects which include Neonatology medical team
  • Serve as role model for members of the neonatology provider team
  • Collaborate with Residents and RNICU Nursing leadership for increased communication
  • Work with Neonatology faculty to continually improve resident education experiences in RNICU.

General Requirements

Work Experience
• Minimum of 3 years NNP/PA experience • Previous lead experience. Preferred.

Education
• Graduate of an accredited PA or NNP program • Current NP licensure in State of MI

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, clinical practice standards, normal maternal / fetal growth and development, and requirements of Advanced practice provider practice. • Able to independently seek out resources and solve complex problems. • Able to communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership, and others. • Able to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and prioritize information, perform health assessments, treatment, and follow-up. • Able to use fine motor skills. • Able to record activities, document assessments & interventions; prepare reports and presentations. • Able to use computer and learn new software programs. • Able to provide leadership in clinical area of expertise and in meeting organizational goals • Able to navigate the Hospital and DUHS to provide clinical expertise to specific patient populations • Able to withstand prolonged standing and walking with the ability to move or lift at least fifty pounds • Able to remain focused and organized • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job.
