The Opportunity:

The Negotiating Landman will bring their expertise to this challenging role in the Mineral Land department. The Negotiator will work alongside members of their asset team to help develop and implement business strategies to support one of Canadian Natural's many geographic areas. This role requires an individual who is flexible, adaptable and has a positive attitude. The individual must be able to prioritize and manage a high volume of work with multiple, overlapping deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skill are required and the ability to focus on details is a must.
  • Job location: Calgary, Alberta
  • Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts
  • Safety sensitive position: No

Key Accountabilities:
  • Execute business strategies and negotiate a variety of agreements including but not limited to mineral rights negotiations
  • Compile information on partners and competitors, formulate strategic plans and provide sound recommendations to asset teams and management
  • Lead asset reviews for the purpose of acquisitions and dispositions
  • Provide business support to technical teams as needed in order to maximize commercial value from the assets
  • Take on projects outside of the scope of mineral rights negotiations
  • Monitor and provide facts and recommendations related to land sales

What You Bring to the Role:
  • 5-15 years of experience in land negotiations with a post-secondary degree
  • Expertise in mapping and mapping systems
  • Solid understanding of lease administration and contracts, CAPL agreements, freehold rights and provincial tenure regulations
  • Registration with the Canadian Association of Land and Energy Professionals (CALEP)
