Requisition Number: 30175 Required Travel: 0 - 10% Employment Type: Full Time/Salaried/Exempt Anticipated Salary Range: $96,951.00 - $125,000.00 Security Clearance: Ability to Obtain Level of Experience: Senior Summary Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a Software Engineer 3 support software development across the Navy Training Baseline (NTB) product line, including JSAF, JBUS, RAVE, ERM, MDS, NEXUS, JMAC, CS3, and ATD. As part of the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Software Engineering team, this engineer contributes to the design, implementation, testing, and sustainment of modeling and simulation systems that enable Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) Fleet training. This position is eligible for hybrid work. This role involves developing and maintaining robust, scalable software; integrating simulation systems across distributed architectures; and collaborating with developers, systems engineers, and subject matter experts to meet Navy training objectives. The Software Engineer 3 works under general direction, independently determining and developing approaches to solutions that contribute to successful project and program execution. What You Will Do • Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and distribute simulation systems containing logical and mathematical solutions. • Contribute to the enhancement, integration, and sustainment of NTB products including JSAF, JBUS, RAVE, ERM, MDS, NEXUS, JMAC, CS3, and ATD. • Perform development on Red Hat Linux platforms using Java, JavaScript (ExtJS/Vue), shell scripting, and modern IDEs such as IntelliJ or Eclipse. • Work with technical leads and end users to implement maintainable, effective, and secure software capabilities aligned with Fleet training requirements. • Apply modeling and simulation techniques and domain protocols, including TENA, HLA, and DIS, to support distributed training systems. • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with hardware/system designers to support the planning and development of electronic data processing systems. • Analyze user needs and system capabilities to resolve issues related to program intent, input/output requirements, and programming techniques. • Prepare operating instructions, assist in writing technical documentation, and support the creation of proposals, briefings, and user manuals. • Ensure software standards, cybersecurity guidelines, and NCTE architecture requirements are met. • Work is performed in an office environment typical for software engineering roles. May require on-site support at NCTE facilities. What You Must Have • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience. • Strong understanding and broad application of software engineering principles, concepts, and best practices. • Proficiency in Java development, object-oriented design, and debugging within Linux environments. • Experience developing multithreaded applications and working with Java-focused IDEs such as IntelliJ or Eclipse. • Working knowledge of Git for version control and software configuration management. • Strong communication skills and ability to work in collaborative team environments. • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Preferred Requirements • Experience with JUnit, Agile development methods, and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, SonarQube). • Experience with JavaScript development, including ExtJS, Vue.js, and web technologies. • Familiarity with TENA, HLA, DIS protocols or other M&S interoperability frameworks. • Experience with scripting languages, databases, cryptographic log-on, and secure coding standards (DISA ASD STIG). • Exposure to C/C++ or C4I systems.
