NATIONAL COMMERCIAL TITLE INSURANCE UNDERWRITER COUNSEL
Location: FULLY REMOTE

Our client, a leading organization in the title insurance and real estate services space, is seeking a National Commercial Title Insurance Underwriter Counsel to join its National Team. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to work on complex commercial real estate transactions, providing underwriting guidance, risk assessment, and strategic support to internal stakeholders and clients across the country.

This position is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and brings strong analytical capabilities, sound judgment, and a solutions-oriented mindset. The successful candidate will play a key role in evaluating risk, guiding transaction structure, and ensuring compliance with underwriting standards and applicable regulations.

Candidate Profile

  • 5-7+ years of substantive experience in national commercial services (NCS) title insurance underwriting or comparable commercial real estate experience in a law firm setting.
  • JD from anABA-accredited law school
  • Active Bar Admissionin applicable jurisdiction, in good standing
  • General understanding of the process of NCS title underwriting real estate transactions for the issuance of title insurance policies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits
  • Solid understanding of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of commercial real estate transactions, title and settlement processes.
  • Must be familiar with applicable real estate law, including federal and state regulations.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders and externally, with clients and others.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage significant transaction volume, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow up in a timely manner.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Effective communicator with strong negotiation skills, who can deliver guidance with clarity, professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.

What You'll Do

  • Provide title insurance underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel, agents, and customers, related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.
  • Apply underwriting standards to assess risk and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on real estate settlement services and transaction structure.
  • Develop and communicate underwriting guidelines and best practices in alignment with organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support efficient and successful transaction execution.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: Starting at $112,500 -$198,150, depending upon experience and other factors. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements, qualifications, and geographic location.
