Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced MV Electrical Inspector / Owner's Representative to support the construction and commissioning of a utility-scale wind farm project. The successful candidate will represent the Owner in the field and ensure medium-voltage electrical installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and applicable electrical codes.

The MV Electrical Inspector will oversee contractor activities related to the wind farm collector system, underground cable installation, grounding systems, pad-mounted equipment, turbine electrical interfaces, and associated commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Inspection & Oversight
• Perform field inspections of medium-voltage electrical construction activities including:

• Underground collector systems
• MV cable installation, pulling, splicing, and terminations
• Grounding and bonding systems
• Pad-mounted switchgear and transformers
• Turbine electrical interfaces
• Fiber optic and communication systems
• MV distribution equipment

• Verify installation complies with:

• IFC drawings
• Technical specifications
• Electrical codes and standards
• Project quality requirements
• Manufacturer recommendations

• Monitor contractor workmanship and installation methods.
• Witness installation hold points, testing activities, and equipment inspections.

QA/QC Responsibilities
• Review contractor inspection and test plans (ITPs).
• Verify quality documentation, redlines, and as-built records.
• Identify deficiencies and support resolution of non-conformance reports (NCRs).
• Track punch list items and corrective actions.
• Prepare daily inspection reports and progress updates.

Safety & Compliance
• Promote safe work practices and compliance with project HSE requirements.
• Monitor adherence to electrical safety procedures and lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements.
• Participate in:

• Safety meetings
• Toolbox talks
• Site audits
• Incident investigations

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IEC, and local regulatory requirements.

Coordination & Reporting
• Act as the Owner's field representative for MV electrical scopes.
• Coordinate with:

• EPC contractors
• Civil and turbine teams
• QA/QC personnel
• OEM representatives
• Commissioning teams
• Project management

• Attend construction meetings and provide status reporting on:

• Progress
• Quality concerns
• Schedule impacts
• Field issues
• Safety observations

Testing & Commissioning Support
• Witness MV cable testing activities including:

• Continuity testing
• Insulation resistance testing
• VLF testing
• Phasing verification

• Support energization readiness reviews.
• Assist with commissioning and turnover documentation.

Qualifications
• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 3-7 years of experience in MV electrical construction inspection or field supervision.
• Experience with utility-scale wind farm, solar, renewable energy, industrial, or utility infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of:

• MV collector systems
• Underground cable installations
• Grounding systems
• Electrical testing procedures
• Construction QA/QC processes

• Ability to read and interpret:

• Single-line diagrams
• Electrical schematics
• Cable schedules
• Construction drawings

• Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, IEC, and utility standards.
• Strong communication, reporting, and coordination skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital inspection/reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications
• OSHA 30 certification
• Renewable energy project experience
• Experience working as Owner's Representative or QA/QC Inspector
• Knowledge of SCADA and fiber optic systems

Work Environment
• Field-based role at active wind farm construction sites.
• Outdoor work in varying terrain and weather conditions.
• Frequent walking, climbing, and travel throughout the project site.

Extended work hours may be required during peak construction and commissioning periods.

Successful candidate may be located locally or may work on a 6-7 week rotation schedule
