Full Job Description
Eaton's Aerospace Group is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Manager. This position can be remote within the US, but preferred locations are Grand Rapids, MI, Jackson, MS, or Los Angeles, CA. Candidates must be local and commutable to one of these locations as relocation assistance is not available. Minimal travel is expected (~10%).

The expected annual salary range for this role is $130000 - $190000 a year.

What you'll do:

This position is an engineering leadership role responsible for leading modeling and simulation (M&S) capabilities for the Aerospace Fuel and Motion Controls (FMC) Hydraulics and Actuation (H&A) business (Los Angeles, CA, Jackson, MS, Bedhampton, UK and Grand Rapids, MI). This role collaborates with internal customers to establish an analysis-first mindset, implements sustainable tools and processes, drives continuous improvement activities and builds organizational capability for a team of analysts. Analysis support includes structural mechanics, structural dynamics/vibration, thermal modeling, computational fluid dynamic simulations, and system 1-D analyses. This role also includes personally conducting analysis as required.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Manage the H&A analysis team establishing goals, providing opportunities for growth and development, and fostering effective team collaboration.
• Build organization capability through robust employee development plans and career path discussions.
• Develop and implement common methodologies and best practices across programs to drive year-over-year productivity and efficiency gains specific to analysis execution.
• Lead the allocation of team resources across site teams. Lead profit planning efforts across the analysis team and manage the activity center budgets throughout the period of performance.
• Work closely with engineering teams and external customers to ensure robust technical support and maintain project momentum.
• Deliver proposal non-recurring engineering estimates for M&S scope. Deliver predictive performance for budget and schedule on awarded new product development programs.
• Support site sustaining activities and root cause investigations as required.
• Develop and qualify strategic partners and resources by working with external software vendors and contractors to improve efficiency and workflow.
• Contribute to the development of the FMC technology roadmap by partnering with site and division Engineering leaders.
• Partner with design engineers to conduct analyses through project execution for the various H&A product lines.
• Build design team capability in analysis methods and tools, enabling them to serve as the first line of defense for preliminary analysis.
• Drive development and use of analysis automation tools to reduce design turn around time.
• Personally conduct analysis and generate reports as required.
• Partner with Aerospace FMC Fuels and Pune, India M&S leaders on standard processes and approaches and development of talent. Assure appropriate documentation and standards are developed to support current and future product development activities.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of engineering experience.
• Minimum of six (6) years of analysis experience, including structural mechanics, structural dynamics/vibration, thermal modeling, computational fluid dynamic simulations, or system 1-D analyses
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the Aerospace industry in a corporate environment.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree from an accredited institution.
• Direct people management experience a plus.

Skills:
• Indirect leadership experience and/or evidence of providing a high level of coaching and mentoring to a team or individuals.
